Just a FYI: there's now a built-in command /deleteblocks that removes map blocks using minetest.delete_area(). Might be worth a try.

Yeah they were protected. I had at least a doz prot blocks mapped out in voxel-perfect-grid-formation to cover the area.
My place had a truncated pyramid roof with a garden on top, and his was made out of blue wood.
