Poll:[Ended] Default Wool Recipe (winner = Wool Weaver)

by jojoa1997 » Sat Dec 29, 2012 06:23

Poll Ended
Results:
Wool Weaver |16| 64.00%
All Leaves |1| 4.00%
Another Wool Weaver |2| 8.00%
Who needs wool. I have creative |6| 24.00%

The options are:
1. Wool Weaver
{leaves, papyrus, leaves}
{papyrus, stick, papyrus}
{leaves, papyrus, leaves}
The idea is to use papyrus and leaves as materials and the stick is the weaver tool. Also the papyrus can be switched out with dry shrubs for half the wool.
papyrus=16 wool
dry shrub=8 wool

2. All Leaves
{leaf, leaf}
{leaf, leaf}
This is mainly to use leaves.

3. Another Wool Weaver
{leaf, leaf}
{leaf, leaf, stick}
{leaf, leaf}
The same idea as option 1

4. Who needs wool. I have creative.

from the old post the scores were
1.= 5pts
4= 2pts

If you have any different suggestions post it here.

This is really for vanilla gameplay and it will make the game better overall.

4.

To get wool, you have to find sheep. I've had at least four hours of fun in minecraft just trying to get sheep to follow me home. With "synthetic" wool, I would just have hacked at some trees. Less of a challenge.

Some version of farming should be in vanilla. A lot smaller than Adams, but a least with wheat and cotton. And a crafting, 9cotton ---> 1wool.

I vote 1 cause adding sheep or any other creature isnt very feasible at this point in time.

Non moving sheep entities that spawn on grass (same system as generating ores/papyrus/cacti)?

When minetest or the average old computer is good enough, or someone makes a mod for it, it can be replaced with 'real' moving sheep.

Lol, not exactly what I had in mind, but if enough people like that...

In 'real' life, when still alive, in a meadow they actually don't move that much.

This is for the right now. And if you read my description on 4 then you would realize that it is not really a valid choice.

Regarding Nr. 1: Papyrus is far too expensive on servers that do not have growing papyrus. If the receipe where to produce a node like the furnance which then could turn other things (leaves or whatever) into wool it would be ok. But that might be beyond the scope of "wool in vanilla"? Might still make an intresting mod. Working with machines instead of just putting everything on the crafting grid or pulling out of creative might be fun.

Nr. 2 might conflict with receipes of some mods. But at least it's simple. If you just want anything plain simple, take that. Or the sand+coal receipe found on some servers. Both are stupid receipes but get the job done.

Or take the cotton plant from flowers/plantlife and let that spawn like papyrus. However, like papyrus, without growing it would be a too rare ressource. Farming with its cotton could solve that :-)

I think it's best to take a simple receipe like the four leaves or sand+coal and add a big note to vanilla saying that it is quite pointless to play that and that there are mods out there which turn the game into something much more intresting.
A list of my mods can be found here.

I like to craft it from the cotton plants in the plantlife mod. I adjust the mod to spawn more cotton plants, make a plant drop 4 cotton balls, and craft 4 balls into 1 white wool node.

Wool requires sheep, it's as simple as that.
The most sensible thing to do would be to use the farming mod and rename wool to cotton.

I think wool should be crafted by placing 4 papyrus like this:
P=papyrus
PP
PP
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
However that will give out White Wool. You can only get other colored wool by dying it :)

the map mod uses that but i think that leaves should be used to at least give them 2 uses. fuel and wool.

Don't bump old topics. Besides, minetest now has cotton farming, so this is not necessary. EDIT: 1111 posts!
