[solved] lighting problem

by anton-tsyganenko » Thu Jan 08, 2015 16:08

It looks strange, like something big is above, it happened after upgrading to 0.4.11, but not immediately. Restarting the game doesn't work. I use the vanilla minetest_game.

Was there a cloud? Or did you build some structure over it and it doesn't update the lighting?

Hi,
There's a mod which removes those bugged parts

..or you can use WorldEdit to fix this:
1) Fly on top of the shadows (until the wielditem is bright again)
2) //pos1
3) //pos2
4) Update nodes: //set air
5) Reset WE region: //reset

It's been for a long time, so it's not because of a cloud. I haven't built anything above there. I tried to use //fixlight in worldedit, but it didn't help.

I didn't expect such a success… :-)

I've spend numerous hours programming stuff that ended in the trash, stuffed with mistakes or badly organized, etc.
But this mod, at first, was just a test. I've made it in 10 minutes, it was just to understand the behaviour of the functions vm:calc_lighting() and vm:update_liquids(). And I noticed that it make flow and light problems to disappear.
The code is extremely short. It only executes these functions, to fix it. It's very surprising that I'm the first to think about it.
Very busy this year too, so do not expect me to be very active on the forum or in game. But I'm not about to drop Minetest forever :)
