No. It is. Most will probably be possible with ordinary mods, others are possible if we ditch minetest_game and start development on a whole new redesigned subgame.
In fact, whenever I get around to it, I plan to start my own subgame from nothing instead of basing it on minetest_game.

Well, many people base his "subgame", in minetest_game... As well, you only have to add mods. But if you want to do it from scratch, that can help a bit.

I believe that building a subgame from the ground up with these features will be easier than trying to convert what would be from the point of view of anyone doing this essentially a huge mess to support them. Sure, you won't have all the nodes in a hurry, but it will be less messy and headache-inducing (hey haz i added supp0rt of real phtyics and Temperature n like for all da nodes?! AAAAAAAAAGFGGGHGHGHGHRFHERJJHHHHH!!!)

Thx, I try to finish this. Currently I play with 3d noise. This screenshots are made with a single 3d noise. I try to get nice shapes, but it is hard to get them without getting floating islands

But always the same mountains and hills are boring. 2d noises have not much variations

Yes, but they can be fun when they are above Minetest/craft's silly hill scale. Also, oceans are an especially important thing.

Perlin noise is known for it's vertical, horizontal and diagonal artefacts.
