Re: Alternatives to MMDB?

rubenwardy wrote:I like the idea of a flexible package system - mmdb could just work as a web interface for it. Mods can already use a mod.conf file to supply a mod name. That's the file that should be used.

That's absolutely the file that shouldn't be used because a billionty existing mods will break everything,

Re: Alternatives to MMDB?

What might be useful is to go down the repository route like ppa's for apt packages or RPM repos for Fedora. People can then curate their own collections, publish a url and then that can be added to Minetest. Mods would need to include their own metadata and screenshots which would mean a descriptor...

[Game] Harvest Mine

Ok, nothing to see here. This is just an idea. Move along now. Harvest Mine is a game where mining is deliberately hard. Farming and trading is the easy path to success. Based roughly on Elite and Harvest Moon. Player will farm and travel to villages and trade with NPC's. Mining with a pick will use...

Re: [Game] Fractured [0.01] [WIP]

Why is the tower sideways? Because it fell! If it fell, then why is the base on one side of the fracture? Because if it had fallen INTO the fracture, which is bottomless, it would be pretty useless. So I went with the rather less probably idea that it was knocked to one side when the world split. I...

Re: Useless README's

What DO you want to find in a README? At the moment I mostly use them for texture credits. Are you expecting install instructions, crafting recipes? If we could come up with some unambiguous guidelines, perhaps this could be added to an FAQ / doc somwhere? Here is a pretty frikkin good example :) T...

Useless README's

I've got a gripe with some of the mod README's For instance, I';ve been playing carbone. I have a small private server for me and my lad and I thought I'd checkout the protection mod. By now I know the drill, look in the mods folder. find a subfolder that looks like it might do the job, check the RE...

Peter Mineydeux

I had some ideas. I'm going to note them in here. I've not got round to working out how to create a mod yet but if I do I don't want to forget them. Equally if someone else want's to have a crack here they are. Minetest Golf: Maybe use the soccer ball mod and dispense with the idea of clubs. Two new...

Re: [Mod] Another Mapgen for Minetest [0.4] [amgmt]

I love this mod. More of this sort of thing. Although the small lakes appear on the land, underwater and floating in the sky.

[Fedora] Fedora rpm builds

I've found some minetest builds on koji

http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/pack ... geID=12961

I've no idea who's packaging them or why they're not appearing in Fedora propper.

Re: [Discussion]Documentation

What would be nice for people like me experimenting with mods would be a script that parses all the mods and generates a bunch of html pages with crafting instructions.

Re: [Game] Sky-Test [0.4] [beta]

Is this pretty normal? Yes, sadly that is pretty normal... I keep meaning to push an update to give triple the amount of cobble when you start out, but keep delaying. I'll go update it right now... Also, one small tip is to go diagonally up. For some reason, islands seem a little more common when y...

Re: [Game] Sky-Test [0.4] [beta]

Well, I'm probably being an idiot but I'm totally lost with this game.
I've tried with minetest 4.10 and minetest git and every single world gen but I either get a very normal world or the bowl in the sky and nothing else.

A README would be appreciated.

Re: need help with remote_media

Actually the one I was using was compiled with curl. when I bring up the menu it shows USE_CURL=1
but I don't know what the difference between that one and the one I compiled is.

I need help realising a game idea.

Today on rockpapershotgun, com John Walker wrote about Salt and also linked back to an earlier minecraft post. Read them first and then come back here.
