Re: Minetest-Classic Fans

That IS the wonderful thing about open source. Everyone can take the code and make their own variation. More forks just indicate a healthier open source environment. They shouldn't be a cause for jealousy are argument, but much joy! Though the result usually is third-degree butthurt. But yeah, ther...

Re: how can i make a city? Give me ideas

You'll wanna start with wide roads and huge/tall buildings for your downtown. From there, build progressively smaller scale buildings in a circular pattern.

Re: Remove pictures in [quote]

For a while the quote function did switch img tags to url tags. Don't know why that's no longer the case, probably to do with the switch in forum software.

One feature I miss more is quoting multiple posts, makes it a pain in the ass to respond to several people in one post.

Re: Public Server List Reform!

Well the way see it... not content with regulating mods to death by telling people where to host and how to license, now ya'll wanna do the same thing with servers by knocking off populars ones you don't agree with and coming up with a magic formula that's garanteed to put certain ones at the top wi...

Re: Public Server List Reform!

Whichever way you set it up, some people are going to be advantaged, and others disadvantaged - and they'll find new ways to game the system. You're opening up a can of worms.

Wuzzy: Thanks for your 2 cents :). And Votes are being worked out so no spamming and there is a cap on voting. It is all just to put the best servers best fitted to be at the top, at the top of the list. There is also a regulations on the age, like 48 hours is a must or something like that. The rea...

You probably want to look at the sign/infotext code in the engine source since that shows a bit of text when mousing over them.

Well there's been a heatwave here the last few days (35c+) so she did the three towers to the left over 2 nights, and I did the one on the right over 1 night.

Re: Idea: An economy system, using real money

It wouldn't be a bad idea to monetize servers in some fashion. Hosting one isn't exactly free nor does everyone have all the free time required to moderate one (owing to a lack of suitable management tools).

Re: Minetest Could Be An Educational Tool

Still I don't see what is gained by having them play computer games at school, they barely learn enough as it is while they're there. Like when lazy teachers would plop us in front of a movie that's barely relevant to the subject matter.

Re: Minetest Could Be An Educational Tool

"social interacting" in minetestian terms translates to being a dick or just plain griefing. Not sure kids have much to learn from neckbeards on social interaction :P Who said that kids learning from MT have anything to do with us? True that it would be more age-appropriate for them to se...

Re: Minetest Could Be An Educational Tool

Dunno, they tried teaching us about history by having us play age of empires, all we did was fuck around with cheat codes. Granted this was in the 90s, but I doubt kids are more mature today. I think schools already rely too much on gimmicks and technology at the expense of class size. Though if you...

Re: What's Minetest still missing over Minecraft?

Dunno, we're frequently told that minetest doesn't have the resources to develop any given feature, though not so short on resources that precious time isn't wasted on issues like code formatting and implementing every database under the sun. Heck even when the devs do reach a consensus the topic co...

Re: Forum software switch

Yeah im not a huge fan of auditory and visual input either. People need to keep in mind that a computer screen is not a piece of paper, black on white is bad for the eyes. I'm not saying go with a black background (unless you really want to), but the previous theme was a little easier on the eyes at...
