I should have set this up years ago. But it's no tale of woe.
Whether the temperature is high or low, regardless of cold winds blow,
away we go like Edgar Allan Poe, on now with the show. BTW rhymes are welcome.
. Hi All Seeing regular mentions of Perlin noise in the context of map-gen throws me back to greyscale bump mapping exercises with early versions of Photoshop and 3D-modellers that have long-since gone to meet their programmer in the sky. I know nothing of the details of Minetest map-gen design and ...
My Minetest game is not working. I updated it like just a thew minutes ago. The new version is nice. I can't open it. I restarted my computer. And the game just won't open. :( Please help me I love playing Minetest. Hi KittyCakes Glancing at your previous posts suggests you're using Ubuntu, but you...
. . . you can not play on your maps on other versions of Minetest after you opened them in this version . . . the server has to be new to be able to read the map . . . If this PR is merged, once you open a world with a server you cannot then afterwards open that world with an older server . . . Fro...
Separating each sentence into its own paragraph makes the separation meaningless, and is just as bad as an unbroken wall of text for readability. . Hmm. Okay. Thank you Byakuren for your feedback, although not the type of ''comments please'' that are most needed. Ocular/eyesight issues influence my...
Hello all, I was wondering if anybody could aid me in activating mods (Linux). I have installed both Creatures MOB-Engine and Animals Modpack. Once installed I am able to see them in MineTest and supposedly activate them in a world. However, once I load said world there are no animals or creatures ...

Your minetest_game and minetest version seems to be incompatible, you will need to update both to 0.4.15. Hmm. Interesting. We've learned something : the minetest application and its _game have to be compatible versions. What we haven't been told|explained|taught|educated is --- from the small end-...
guys id like to have my server back up asap. please, any ideas? even if you arent sure, your ideas COULD make a difference I notice that you say earlier in this thread : sorry, 0.4.15 latest from dnf but then [root@server ~]# minetest --version mMinetest 0.4.14 (Linux) . . . [root@server ~]# minete...
What do you think about these? https://forum.minetest.net/download/file.php?mode=view&id=8707&sid=4f2ca6dee02f21c3589d2ad528a64f56 https://forum.minetest.net/download/file.php?mode=view&id=8706&sid=4f2ca6dee02f21c3589d2ad528a64f56 I too quite like the second one. :) .
. Hi Thanks for the suggestion What even is minetest-dbgsym? As far as I understand what Fixerol recommended , minetest-dbgsym facilitates debugging. My desire is not merely to achieve a situation where there are no longer problems for me in the here-and-now. If possible, it is always better to exte...
Chain of events : With my recent question failing to elicit the hoped-for expertise, I'm still thrashing around in ignorance. I saw lordfingle's post about debugging minetest . Debugging software like he's doing is not in my skillset. But I searched and found Fixerol's post : Minetest 0.4.14 . I rea...
. Hi After months of trying, an interesting sub-game is still crashing for me. Its author is obviously not a native-English-speaker, and possibly not sufficiently knowledgeable to help. TL;DR Two Questions : 1 ) - is it appropriate ... and if so is it enough ... to simply substitute deprecated-funct...
I did apt-get minetest-server, Repo outdated 4.13, but it worked and started on boot. So I changed the directory to my 4.15 dev build, that worked, the .minetest.conf file worked but it's not detecting everything below my /world folder. player files, the map or anything. I've tried moving these fol...
Are you running a complicated setup with multiple servers with multiple configurations and multiple other-things-to-consider..? If so, I have no idea if it's safe to rename, sorry. But if not, if you're on a simple singleplayer Minetest like myself, read on... Yes, I play singleplayer mode. Honestl...
Is it safe to change world's name just by renaming corresponding folder in ~/.minetest/worlds/ ? In world's folder there are many data like metadata, map itself as sqlite database, and so on. Maybe world name is presented there as well. How to change world's name correctly? Are you running a compli...
Thank you for the learning experience. I thought that the mushrooms would be on the north side (though I read some do grow on the north side) but I found that some fungi grow on the south side too, interesting! This was a fun read: http://www.naturalnavigator.com/the-library/find-your-way-using-lic...
I've never used systemd and having hard time finding good tutorials. I need to know how to create a minetest service/unit, start on boot and restart on crash on ubuntu server 16.04. thank. Hello TARD I'm running Mint-18-KDE which is based on Ubuntu-16.04-LTS. There is a distinct package '' minetest...
. Hi again Feedback/Crash-Report : I just downloaded today's marsu game from GitHub. In the spirit of ''a sub-game is supposed to be complete in itself, just download/install/run..'' I've done just that. Vanilla Minetest, vanilla Marsu_Game ... no other mods, no other configuration. Just the marsu_g...
i'm not an expert and dont know how all the cmake flags work. I want to, with source code, install minetest 0.4.14 the same way dnf does it so i can get it running. Hi Fedora24 Ironically the move to dnf from yum --- with yum's scriptable URL-list-generating yumdownloader which fitted my data-cappe...
Warning: This mod is incomplete and under development. The code does need a lot of cleanup. ... you need to add secure.trusted_mods = handle_schematic to your minetest.conf . Erm, ''shurely shome mishtake..?'' Simple typo I'm sure, but shouldn't there be an ''s'' on the end : secure.trusted_mods = ...
. I read above that you tweaked the mod, but use of the word ''tricky'' suggests there's already known issues in this area. ...probably missing/overlooking/doing-something-wrong..? Hmm, self-quoting, beseeching the silent void --- seems like this is a slow thread, if not totally dead. Still, for th...
Curious, Are you sure you've installed the mod into the correct mod folder? Just asking, cause I've had to track down that folder after using Calinou's One-Line script installer for a dev version of Minetest on Lubuntu14.04, and then upgrading to a stable version from the ppa. Turns out, one was a ...
I'm starting to wonder if there's something different about the binaries supplied by the minetestdevs ppa repo, because I've encountered odd issues before, where it seemed I was the only one having issues but others were okay, and when I built-from-source locally and ran-in-place the issues disappe...
CuriousNoob, mg_villages works with minetest v0.4.15. The reason you are not seeing villages, is because you have not installed any of the village mods. If you download the Villages modpack, it includes everything. You have to update the handle_schematics and the mg_villages mods within the modpack...
. So then, apart from disabling mod-security, is there anything else I can do as an end-user..? Or is this something only you as the author can fix..? Update : For the sake of rigour, completeness, control-group experimentation etc, I disabled mod-security. Yes, a newly-created world starts. But no...
. Hi Sokomine Firstly please let me echo other people's sentiments that your contributions to this FOSS game-space are very much appreciated. As posted elsewhere, for reasons of monthly data-caps, I've recently been trying Sub-Games singleplayer offline locally. One of these sub-games (''aftermath''...

For me it seems about 15-20 minutes real-time, usually on the way back after doing/exploring something else in-game, I haven't stuck beside one rigorously trying it every second. ;-P
. Hi maikerumine/Aiden Crippled by monthly data-caps I've recently been auditioning worlds singleplayer, offline locally. From your ReadMe/RTFM above it looked interesting and challenging, so firstly it's a ''Thank You'' for contributing this Sub-Game. But --- and with a fresh forum-post you know th...
