Re: Craig's Server

The contest is only fun if we can keep it fun, and that's more a matter of people coming together and creating cool stuff. I'm pretty sure NeuCoins have zero value, so that's why I called it play-money. If people start playing with them then any play-money you earned in one game could also be used i...

Re: Craig's Server

I'm going to give it a shot: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=15130

If there's any interest, I might ask to put in a travel net in with the others near spawn.

Re: Craig's Server

Hey Craig: Big fan of your server, it's a good setup and I'm having fun as a new player discovering a place with a solid history. You asked about ideas to gain some activity. Lately I'd been thinking of doing a few build contests, with specific themes and time frames. Figured I'd offer NeuCoin prize...

Re: Create script to clone/update mods from Github

On linux this shoulde be a simple one-liner:

for dir in ~/.minetest/mods/*; do cd $dir; git pull; done

You're minetest directory may vary.

Evolution of a Noob

# 01: Community Arts and Garden https://forum.minetest.net/download/file.php?id=6744 I'm new to Minetest; started playing in April. It has only been a few weeks since I started playing multi-player. The first time I built something on a multi-player server, I wanted friendly neighbors that I could s...

Re: Help understandnig the world format

Thanks, that helped me make a bunch of progress. Unfortunately I'm still missing a step... Here's what I've been able to gather: - map-version: 25 - flags: 1 (appears that per-bit operators would be needed to parse these, might come back to that.) - content-width: 2 - parameters-width: 2 - Unknown u...

Re: The Ultimate Goal/Challenge in Minetest

Cool questions! I bet this is the same kind of thinking you see behind those rare, low-budget indie films that turn out to be better than anything the big-budget producers can come up with. Some ideas that might be fun to play with: - Variations on scarcity / abundance - Save the beast / myth-sized ...

Help understandnig the world format

I'm trying to parse the minetest map.sqlite format , mostly relying on the world.txt documentation. I'm a bit stuck on this bit: zlib-compressed node data: if content_width == 1: - content: u8[4096]: param0 fields u8[4096]: param1 fields u8[4096]: param2 fields if content_width == 2: - content: u16[...

World format and some kid in Mumbai

Last night I was playing around with Minetest on a public server, and found myself in a virtual world populated by several kids. Between their orders to "follow me" and "give me diamond" they ended up mentioning their ages: 6 - 12. One of them revealed that she is Indian. That ca...

Re: Minetest as an experimental tool for neuroscience

@eeMagic: Yeah, I wasn't thinking about that; no good being efficient if you cant' actually use the results..!
So are you finding what you need? How's the project coming?

Re: HELP: minetest .sqlite format

Did you manage to sort out the nodes? I'm also trying to convert the block data into something a person could actually read; interpreting the bytes from the available documentation is proving a challenge.

Re: Minetest as an experimental tool for neuroscience

Depending on exactly how you want to interpret your data, it might be more efficient to log key-presses and mouse movements. Interesting sounding project, I hope you'll tell us more about it.
