Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute

SK, please don't take offense, this is just a question. Is unprovoked PvP banned or just ganging? There are no restrictions on PVP between individual players (one-on-one), so long as it is not violating any of the rules. However, teaming up to attack a single player without provocation is an unfair...

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute

I almost forgot! Last Saturday we had an impromptu inauguration party for the bridge overlooking the French Village (Le Ville Français). It was an unexpected turnout! I'd only invited a few friends to stop by. Yet someone began randomly teleporting players and next thing I knew, half the city was th...

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute

http://i.imgur.com/fcQchKQ.png I've updated the rules. All players should read the glass Information Kiosk at spawn. The latest version will always be published there. No griefing. No trolling. No building over existing land claims. No impersonating staff. No dating. No hacking. No cheating. No cur...

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute

The player poxyist has already been banned. Others are sure to follow as I research the logs. Also a reminder that PVP from minecarts and boats is considered cheating. Anyone that is caught exploiting bugs to kill players will have their privileges suspended. As of today, PVP gangs are now prohibite...

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute

JT2 is an anarchy survival server, but there are also rules. We have people from all walks of life that play here, including children. So please show some respect for your fellow players. Zorg was attacked on his land by a gang of Russian players today. Baggins was attacked on his land by a gang of ...

Re: RIP Nyan Cats.

Afaik the Nyan Cat image itself is also protected by copyright. Whether it's enforced or not is a different question. But most artistic works (visual works, literary works, architectural works, musical works, and many others) are automatically protected by copyright in the U.S. for a designated peri...

Re: Should we rename Minetest? (poll)

I still really like the name Freeminer. It has all the attributes of great branding. Since work on that project has seemingly halted for the foreseeable future, it might be worthwhile to at least open a dialog with the Freeminer devs about the possibility of acquiring the rights to that name. Just a...

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute

http://i.imgur.com/HtRvrlt.jpg By popular demand, I've expanded the produce selection on JT2. It is a highly abridged version of the farming_redo mod with the addition of oranges from farming_plus. In total there are now 8 fruits and veggies to choose from. I believe this affords a decent variety o...

Re: An unhandled exception occurred: Couldn't save env meta

From what I can discern saveMeta( ) in environment.cpp, relies on the fs::safeWriteToFile( ) method, which creates a temporary file for writing. Here is the warning that is included within the comments of that method regarding potential failure points under Windows OS. Move the finished temporary fi...

Isn't there already a thread called Minetest's Horrible Controls, in which this issue is discussed? Why do we need an entire topic devoted to changing the keyboard bindings just for ladders?

Hey, unless you guys know something the rest of us don't, it's not really fair to assume JT2 has been shut down. Sorcerykid has a real life to live and a real job, perhaps she is simply very busy right now. She has put a lot of heart and soul and money in JT2, and she deserves our patience (and not...

Re: Minetest latest experimental features

Fixes: * Fix >5 year old PlayerSAO deletion bug (yes, finally it is gone, you can join Vanessa's and Co servers without server kicking you out, I checked) * Do not force deletion of players when mapblock is full. A fix that I already had implemented on JT2 back in mid-January, yet I'm told (quite r...

Re: Waving objects

I just disable waving water, waving leaves, and waving plants as I believe they look completely ridiculous and cartoonish. On the other note, I live in the midwest United States. It is windy nonstop every hour of every day here, sometimes gusts of 30 - 40mph. Yet, when I visit downtown Chicago which...

Re: [Server] HOMETOWN

I've been wondering if I should be enforcing specific rules regarding dating and/or role playing, since every time I login I see players engaging in these activities. Re: What do we need gold for?

On JT2 server gold armor has more healing power than all other armors combined, even tho it lacks durability. As for singleplayer, there is something known as a gold block. This is what a gold block looks like. http://wiki.minetest.net/images/b/b0/Gold_block.png So no, gold is not just limited to use...

Re: How can the minetest community be made bigger?

There are so many tiny, but annoying issues like the new water sounds. It is great to finally have some kind of sound, but the implementation is crap. There is no splash sound if you jump in the water, if you walk on the ground the walking sound is played instead of the water sound. If the water so...

Re: Post interesting mapgen settings here

Who needs sky blocks, when we can have entire sky worlds? :D

Minetest already has the benefit of virtually unlimited vertical space. Traditionally most people assume that to mean depth, rather than height. But using mapgens in this way could introduce a whole new game mechanic.
