*BUMP* This mod isn't dead; I'm just too lazy to update every small change I do. I'm proud to say that this mod is since 2 months or so ago featured in all of OldCoder's and MarkTraceur's worlds. Still waiting for someone to be able to compile natively on Windows though. I have a Windows install he...

I could easily do installers for Windows and Linux (Linux may be a touch harder). However I doubt anyone would use them even if I did make them. For the dev team of Minetest, have a look at BitRock InstallBuilder. Multi platform install creator and they give free licenses for open source products. h...

My 2c is that mobs should be implemented in C++. Or at least the bulk of it with mods being able to make new mods to use the C++ code. (not a coder but seems logical that mobs should be done in C++)

Mod request: mod package manager. You have a file named repos.list which contains mod repository links list. Mod repositories can be rsync, git, mercurial etc. A repository is a folder with some files named: modname.mod Example modname.mod: name=Mod name description=Some mod min_minetest_version=0....

Download and copy this colors.txt file in place of the default one. It supports many different mods: http://digitalaudioconcepts.com/vanessa/hobbies/minetest/colors.txt Those nodes that are unrecognized just means that the mapper is supposed to ignore them (this doesn't work properly in the C++ map...

It yelled at me (or rather, it said "meow") when a poptart cat was near.

Is the nyancat block really spawned in-game?

My friend found it once.. I have never found it personally.

Bash Scripts to backup minetest and start/restart a running servers

Some scripts I just finished that I used. Mod variables paths whatever as needed to suit your needs. License is do whatever you want but give credit where credit is due. Start/Restart server: #!/bin/bash # # Place script in root of minetest run in place and make executable # # The startup command ex...

I will be installing the update but it has seriously been about 21 hours since install of this mod and still just saplings everywhere and no new trees :( I thought for sure by now it would have sprouted at least a few new trees.

"half an hour" is why you never saw any trees. They grow very slowly - it takes an hour or more before you start seeing them, and they only appear in certain areas. I have had the mod installed and running now for 6 hours and although there is a ton of saplings, none have grown into trees that I ca...

For the sake of example... If you look into the bash mod installer I did you can see using 7z from console to extract is very simple: 7z x -tARCHIVETYPE -o/path/to/place/youwant/it/extracted For zip: 7z x -tzip -o/path/to/mod/folder For 7z: 7z x -t7z -o/path/to/mod/folder If you use zip on linux you...

Does it support Minetest Extensions repo? No but will look into it. Zip is the best use since it free, and you don't need Download a Software to use a zip file or open it. That is only true on Windows. Most Linux users have to install support for zip if they want to use zip archives. This is probab...

To help end the mod archive wars this installer has been updated.

The changes, it now has a packmod-7z.sh and packmod-zip.sh and both zip and 7z work with the installer (as well as any other format 7z handles).

7zip for windows is easy. http://7zip.org IMO the 7zip archiver is better than any other for windows. Getting 7zip support on most linux distros is also trivial. Simply put tar.gz/tar.bz2 are most supported on linux and zip most supported on windows. However sometimes zip isn't supported on linux. I...

Cool! Could I suggest making a shell script for windows? I'm not implying anything but internetz has taught every more/less skilled windows user to be suspicious about executables.
