For spawning working workbenches, you could try something similar to what is done in LOTT. To make things like this work, there are nodes (generally with the airlike drawtype, so they're invisible) which are placed in the schematics in place of the furnace/workbench/whatever, and an abm runs on them...

That error isn't something which I can fix. It's an issue with Minetest, not LOTT... The only way around it is turning off mod security.
An issue has been opened on github, and it's marked as a blocker, so it should be fixed soon... https://github.com/minetest/minetest/issues/4692

It seems as if its a different error now, so at least we're making a little bit of progress...! Thanks for your answer. Yes, I thought it would be rejected, after all, minetests #1 feature is stagnation. It was never said that it was rejected, just that it wasn't worth coding, as it would require too much change for too little benefit... And actually, it turns out that it wasn't too much chan...

I really like the sound of this idea! or we could ask the developers to include a "bushlike" drawtype in the next version, that looks just like firelike but without animation. Whether a node is animated or not depends on the nodedef, not the drawtype, so there's no need for a new drwatype....

However, I don't really know C++, so my implementation of it is probably pretty rubbish!

Is it possible to create a craft that yields something that already has damage. I'm trying to add boiling water to the thirsty mod and want the canteen to loose water when it gets cooked, I know I can spawn things with damage, and initial_give can do damaged objects, but I can't seem to find a way ...

I don't think that there is much/any need for that mod, because now there are snow biomes in mgv6 (enabled by default). So if you just wander around a map of vanilla Minetest, so long as it is 0.4.13 or later, you'll come across a snow biome.
