Re: PVP Preferences feedback please

Well, I have heard that some really don't like unlimited ability to see every players location, but are there any who like it, and why? It is useful for PvP servers, where the players shouldn't see the others to any time. Only showing players that are near to you makes it easier to excape from &quo...

Re: Bug with glass

It would be a pain to replace stairs using WorldEdit. Checking each node for its definition to decide whether param2 should be cleared or not. For simplyness, request a new command to clear param2 for all nodes in the selected area.

Re: [Mod] Boost cart [boost_cart]

Even when I place a powered rail every 2 rails, there is not enough power to reach the top. That's something I haven't though about when matching boost_cart's behaviour similar to the MTG (minetest_game) version. Yesterday I had no time to announce this here. With the most recent commit the speed l...

Re: Mod Problem (Playeranim)

Re: Collecting items while mining...

You are in the creative mode. In the inventory you can drag the items you want into your slots, such as pickaxes, stones and beds.
To get into survival mode, get to the main menu and untick the checkbox "Creative mode" on the left side in the tab "Singleplayer".

Re: Adventure-Mode, o.ä. in Minetest?

Re: Free Minetest server hosting?

The easiest and fastest solution for this would be to use Selfhosting (©®™). Even with a few dollars it's possible to buy a Rasberry PI to run a Minetest server on it. If your connection is not fast enough to handle some players, then you can either ask someone to host it for you (VPS not used entir...

Re: 99 items

Let me explain why 99 and 100 are both not an ideal choice: 99: Positive ⋅ 9 crafting slots by default. Crafting blocks (9x item) without leftovers ⋅ Maximal number for limited space (Smartphone screens) ⋅ It's a standard of Minetest since there are stack sizes ⋅&n...

Re: maybe useful for server owners?

For small databases with a few queries I already use LuaSQLite3. However, that's another projekt. Using "require", this library takes quite long to load (> 200ms). It's surely not the fastest way to access C functions from SQLite through Lua, which itself is executed by C.

Re: [mod][20MM] Coloured chat for players [1.0][chat_c]

I'd rather prefer commands instead of prefixes, such as /green /yellow and the text behind it.
FYI: You can also create these messages manually by copy&paste the ESC ASCII character into the chat, in the following format: [ESC](c@#FF0000) Hello world message

Re: 99 items

With the old font settings they covered more of the inventory images. Two digits already allow quite big stacks and they don't cover the image too much, so it's easier to see what the item is.

Re: Weak node protection for PVP

The protection mod LandRush already contains a setting where it is possible to grief someone's lands when its owner is online. It also notifies the owner when someone is actually griefing. But it does not implement the slow digging - that would require a tool change ingame and per-player, which requ...

Re: Change fov through a mod

I think the zoom privilege is enough for the moment. It was added in 0.4.14-dev and allows players to change the fov ingame to the value of the setting "zoom_fov".
It's also possible to revoke and grant privileges to players easily in a mod, like when holding a gun or similar.

Re: Post your modding questions here

Oops I found SAO (new entity) haven't something like get_rotate(), only getyaw() present. There is the function get_yaw() for LuaEntities (mobs, dropped items, etc) that returns the rotation in radians, which represents the rotation of the entity. If you need it in degrees, multiply it with (180 / ...

Re: WorldPainter support?

The libraries that are labeled as "pre-compiled libraries" are indeed compiled with MSVC (2010) for 32-bit MSVC builds only. I'd be surprised when one gets it working with MinGW. Check out the buildbot script. That script and the 32-bit pendant download cross-compiled libraries for MinGW a...
