That one actually had "Release" in it, but even when I changed it to "Debug" I still got the same "backtrace not available" short report. Strange.

Re: What is the easiest way to install on a Mac?

I think you will have to use the older version of my script (which made MT "Debug" builds) to get a useful crash log: cd mtmake-osx git checkout 69fe4e9b9a Or get the ZIP: https://github.com/mdoege/mtmake-osx/archive/69fe4e9b9a2eefc0067e6fc63591fb5e28b438b1.zip Of course it might be that ...

Any progress with your Snow Leopard build? It compiled fine with your script, but gave me a segmentation fault when started: Process: bash [13586] Path: /Users/security/mtmake-osx-master/releases/minetest.app/Contents/MacOS/minetest Identifier: celeron55.minetest Version: ??? Re: What is the easiest way to install on a Mac?

So now I've updated the build at https://github.com/mdoege/minetest/releases/tag/20140430 . I'd like to get confirmation that this runs on a new Mac again without the need to install luajit yourself. And of course if Core 2/Mavericks compatibility would work now that would be great. That version wo...

Re: What is the easiest way to install on a Mac?

Uninstalled luajit (brew unistall luajit) and reinstalled it to confirm.
20140429.4b44d35 requires luajit installed, while 20140427.088b18d works without it.

I like the zip better in 20140429.4b44d35, with the app appearing in a folder with the zip name.

Re: What is the easiest way to install on a Mac?

Well, I need the full crash report. Your old Mac is running Mavericks, right? (Because if it doesn't, the binary won't work anyway.) "Segmentation Fault" alone doesn't help at all. Oops. No, its still on snow leopard. I have the crash report now (didn't know about Library/Logs/DiagnosticR...

OmniStudent & raffahacks, I've made a new build: https://github.com/mdoege/minetest/releases/tag/20140430 I've reinstalled luajit from a Mavericks bottle that was available on the Homebrew Sourceforge site. And I've built a bottle of hiredis according to their Wiki instructions which should be ...

Re: Morn76's Minetest OS X Mavericks builds

I didn't realize that the core2test version was for older macs :/ Anyway its the only optimized version I've tried and there was a noticeable difference. A single build sound right. Re: What is the easiest way to install on a Mac?

@OmniStudent: Like I said earlier, I think you should use LevelDB for your maps. Slowdowns due to database loading will still happen but not be as bad as with SQLite. I do my Stampy map in LevelDB and only migrate a copy to SQLite for distribution. I hope with the release 0.4.10, all binaries will ...

Thanks! Tested the current version (core2test_minetest-osx-bin-20140429.4b44d35.zip) and it works perfectly. Framerates of 40-60 on my brand new macbook pro. Despite getting roughly the same framerates on the laste version, graphics feel "smoother" in this version. Also, rendering of far a...

Is there any chance of adding JavaScript as a language used for modding? Programming with Lua is pain. It even doesn't recognize != operator. It blows my mind. I hate Lua. Re: What is the easiest way to install on a Mac?

I'm working on a make-based "make_mac.sh" that I will push to mdoege/mtmake-osx soon I hope. Without interference from xcodebuild, it should be easier to stick e.g. "-march=core2" in the CMakeLists somewhere and get a build that works on your machine. (Because with Xcode I could...

Re: What is the easiest way to install on a Mac?

I've made some progress: Now I can build a 64 bit binary with make instead of xcodebuild. It turns out the crashiness of optimized Release builds was due to these compiler flags: "-ffast-math -Wall -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe -funroll-loops". Remove them and the problems are gone. I just h...

If you're good at blender: I'm still looking for a goat to roam the Minetest world. Re: Morn76's Minetest OS X Mavericks builds

The latest realease wouldn't work until I did

Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
Code: Select all
brew install hiredis

but then everything worked fine! Played with shaders, filtering, waving trees, everything and still FPS never went below 20.

Re: What is the easiest way to install on a Mac?

Maybe you should clone mtmake-osx instead of downloading the ZIP, so you can simply do "git pull" before you build. Nested git repositories seem to work, you just have to be more mindful of which directory you are in before you 'git pull'. Have to learn more git, as of now I'm only able t...

Re: What is the easiest way to install on a Mac?

So it looks like leveldb and freetype work without problems; gettext might work if include and library paths were changed because Homebrew does not install this in /usr/local, so as not to clash with OS X's built-in BSD gettext. LuaJIT on the other hand is a complete disappointment on OS X and lead...
