Re: [32×] Modern [modern]

Do you not know how to animate textures or is it a design decision? If you need help animating it would be trivial for me to animate flowing water and lava for you. This texture pack looks good so far, except for cobble. No, I'd like the water/lava/torches to be animated (and know how to do it), I ...

Re: What is, what will, what sould be Minetest?

I don't think that's entirely true - hMod (2010) and CraftBukkit (2011) could basically be considered server mods, even if they were pretty limited in adding new content to the game.

CC BY-SA 3.0 Unported. It allows commercial use and modification, as long as the derived work (the textures themselves) are under CC BY-SA 3.0 or 4.0 as well.

Re: Package manager / repo for mods?

What I don't like about APT repositories is that they're neither cross-platform nor cross-distribution. cornernote worked on a solution using Bower , which works cross-platform and cross-distribution, however it would need better integration with Minetest. Or perhaps we should fork an existing simpl...

Re: Poll: Re-add singlenode mapgen to world generation scree

In my opinion, this is only viable if mapgens get descriptions in the world creation dialog, and the singlenode mapgen creates a small (eg. 7x7) plane made of a solid node (such as wood) upon which the player can build on when used with minetest_game.

Voting yes, but please keep this in mind.

Re: How can I increase the active range for lua entities (mo

Try this:

Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
Code: Select all
active_block_range = 4
active_object_send_range_blocks = 4

The distance is in "blocks", ie. 16×16×16 nodes. The first one determines the simulation area of entities (default is 2), the latter determines the sending distance (default is 3).

When you install a graphics driver on Windows, you automatically have both OpenGL and Direct3D, regardless if it's Intel, AMD or NVIDIA.

Re: WE NEED TO STOP THIS!!! [POLL]

At this point in time, what Minetest does have is the option of trademarking: I would urge one of the core devs to register a trademark, or for a nominal foundation to be created to own the trademark. The rest should follow pretty ingenuously. celeron55 already considers Minetest to be an unregiste...

Yes, it is possible to add mods after creating a world, however if they impact the map generation, it will only take effect in newly generated parts of the world.

Re: First Person Shooter

Minetest is not really suited to a FPS right now, because of the lack of client-side scripting, there won't be prediction for bullets and other projectiles, which means players will have to lead their shots depending of their latency.

Re: Running a minetest server on an old pc

For 10 players, a Pentium D might struggle quite a bit, even if you're got 2 GB of RAM or more. I suggest you try with that setup, and if it's too slow, try using dedicated_server_step = 0.2 in minetest.conf (it halves the tick rate, from 10 TPS to 5 TPS). Don't forget about network bandwidth too (i...
