Re: Forum software switch

I've noticed that some people's replies (mostly those from when the old forum software was used) have blank titles and replies to those are being titled just "Re:", which makes it difficult to tell what topic they're in from a feed reader. Looks like an artifact from the transition. I don'...

People not using feeds don't know what they're missing. Ever since I started using them, the time I've saved has been tremendous, and I'm able to follow more sites.

It is, but that's a topic feed. Not a feed for all posts in the whole forum.

One thing I'm sure many people don't care about since they don't know how convenient it is: phpBB has much better feeds than the current forum. The current one only follows new topics, not new posts in existing topics. wut? wutwutwut? Have you tried clicking on 'New posts' in the top right? That do...

Probably you checked the "'Use' = climb down" checkbox. The "use" key is E by default, so either it switched it to I for you when you made E the inventory key, or you did so without thinking about it. What version of Minetest do you have, by the way? I'm not sure what "special1" is, the menu doesn't...

Though the fact that that one linked to the Minetest source code and didn't try to hide the fact that it's a port of Minetest suggests a non-malicious intent, so maybe they'll correct the problem if they're sent a simple message explaining what they need to do, unlike the "Buildcraft" guy.

Everyone ought to learn how to look at the readme and follow directions. Honestly, it's not that hard to compile C++ code that is distributed with makefile generator scripts, supports cmake, etc (unless you're on Windows).

It's already possible to control the mouse with the keyboard, in German, it's called "Tastaturmaus", I think. In English it is called Mouse Keys. This would be a good start for making Minetest playable in situations where a mouse doesn't make sense (on the TV, with a laptop off of a table, etc). It would be even better if Minetest could support gamepads directly rather than having to use software like Qjoypad, but I guess that's harder, so st...

I don't approve since you're choosing to make it proprietary, and I can't use it anyway since it's Windows-only. Re-do it in something that works on GNU/Linux systems (maybe Qt; try the Qt Designer, it's very nice) and release it as free/libre software, and I would be interested.

That's why there's something called improvising so that it can run with whatever hardware it can. The question isn't really whether it's possible, but whether it's worth it . So next version will be 0.4.10, not 0.5? The dot is not a decimal point. Each of the three numbers is completely separate and represents a different level of change. That should work. Your local IP address should start with "192.168. 2 ", though (in this last post you mentioned an IP address with the third digit being 1). Set both ports to 30000.

As for the protocol, I think it's UDP for Minetest; you can try each to find out for sure. Or you can just forward the port for both of them, that will be fine too.

You need to port forward if the host is connected wirelessly to a router. Look up something like "port forwarding <your router manufacturer>". By the way, it doesn't matter as long as it worked, but you didn't need to use sudo for ifconfig, and ifconfig is actually deprecated in many GNU/Linux syste...

They could file on the grounds that Minetest has similar concepts as Minecraft (i.e its gameplay). Concepts can't be copyrighted. Only works can. Minetest absolutely is not a derivative work of Minecraft; it uses the same idea (ideas can't be copyrighted) and nothing more. It's true enough, though,...
