Why?

Because that makes the software proprietary. I only use free software.[1]

I'm not interested in it anyway, but I wouldn't play this unless you took that "NC" clause off of the code, at least (and frankly, software shouldn't be put under Creative Commons licenses in the first place; those licenses are meant for cultural works, not software).

Ew, Papyrus.

Do a screen capture. On windows it is fn+end for me. Just look up how to do print screen. Then after you print screen paste it into something. The key is Print Screen. Some systems (like Windows) will put it onto a clipboard, some (like GNOME) will save it to a file. Actually, some don't work with ...

Is Notch even powerful enough to do that anymore? I never followed Minecraft, so I don't know much about it, but I think Minecraft has gotten a lot bigger than it was in 2010, hasn't it? I'd imagine that Notch would have let go of any copyrights he had and allowed a company to have it pretty easily....

Doesn't matter if they did. Ideas are plentiful. People who complain about "stealing" (using) someone else's idea are noobs.

(As a side note, I think the way Minetest identifies items is inherited from Lua, not an idea the Minetest developers came up with.)

Yeah, computer processors and noise from the fan don't tend to keep you company very well. On a more serious note, if you want to play with other people, go to the multiplayer tab and join someone else's server that's publicly listed and already has players on it. Usually there's a few people in som...

For music, there's the ambience mod. Yeah, it would be nice if it was in the default game, but I think that mod is kind of heavy for some reason, so it would need to be made more lightweight. Some people also might not like having music.

I don't really care how the menus look as long as they get the job done. What I would really like are the options in the second mockup (and other options you currently have to edit in the config file to change). For what it's worth, I like the icon method of selecting the game that was recently intr...

I haven't timed it, but I think connections to my server time out after 5 minutes or so (I don't know if this is controllable by a setting). So waiting more than 5 minutes is pointless.

I don't know what dungeons are like in Minecraft, but Minetest's "dungeons" make me think more of small ruins than dungeons. They would be a lot cooler if they were bigger (and had monsters in them, but of course that would require mobs to exist first).

Hmm. If Matrix01 decided to upgrade the parts in his computer, would doing so be cheaper than getting a new one (provided that he doesn't get too excessive, that is?) For something that's something like 15 years out-of-date, it would be extremely unlikely for that to be worth it. Better just get a ...

There's a typo in line 58 of init.lua:

Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
Code: Select all
bject:get_luaentity().physical_state = true

It should be:

Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
Code: Select all
object:get_luaentity().physical_state = true

This causes the server to crash if it gets to that point.

the releases section only lists mods with copyleft licensing That's not true. Copyleft is a form of license which requires you to share-alike (i.e. not release proprietary versions; you have to use the same license if you redistribute). Permissive licenses like WTFPL are accepted in the releases se...

Please don't use the "ND" or "NC" clauses for the software portion. In fact, I don't think you should use any Creative Commons license for the software at all. Use a permissive license (lots of people here use the WTFPL, but there's also the Expat license or CC0) or use a proper software license tha...

All you need to do is compile it. I'm not familiar with OS X, but it's a Unix system, so it can't be that hard. Just install the dependencies and "make".

There are some discrepancies in what license this is under. The first post says it's under CC BY-SA, the readme says it's under CC BY-NC, and "license.txt" is a copy of CC BY-NC-SA. These are three different licenses, and only one of these (CC BY-SA) is a free license. I'm not sure what the legal ef...
