When my friends say it's a ripoff of Minecraft, I say "sure, but Minetest can be used to built an entirely different game that looks nothing nor plays nothing like Minecraft." Then I show them a fork I've started called Minetropolis which is like a Sim's City style game only using a modified Minetes...

I see nothing wrong with this idea, there are quite a few open source games that do just this to motivate developers to work.

Fireflies were self illuminating, not actually a light source, but it gave it that impression. I miss those little fellas. They were so mindless and random. With a bit of improvement, they would make the night in Minetest pretty again. I personally like to catch them and put into those glass vessels...

My only concern really is when a new ore is added, a new set of tools crop up from them. That gets tedious. If a new ore has to be added, make it so it has other properties besides tools (in fact, some shouldn't be tools at all). For example: Pyrite - It's more shinier and sparkles more than Gold, b...

What fairiestoy said, it's confusing at first but you'll get the hang of it. I believe there should be a better method to using it but so far it's not bad.

The reason I stated "Running out of color for textures" is because that exactly what I'm running into (or at least I did before) due to the color schemes looking nearly identical. They confuse players (at least for me they do) when they mine in the caves.

I am in no way requesting you add support for Blockman's Hud mod but just thought you should know that his mods health bar has a background which would allow your avatar heart to be possible if you drew a similar background. I'm saying this because I remember you explaining that you couldn't use th...

PixelBOX Fun Pack has been updated with dozens of 16x16 textures. Some are revisions and/or slightly modified (for the better) leading up a total of 464 textures. So am I allowed to use some of the textures* for nodetest and my garden mod, alternate them and publish those under a free licence? *e.g....

The problem with the -ND in that case is that you *can't* use these textures in a mod, as mod textures generally need to be in the 16 to 32px range, while yours are 250px (when I last looked - btw it is advisable that you make your next release an even 256px). -ND disallows derivatives, and I'm pre...

Gambit: First of all, glad to hear things are going well for you :) Also that you're still working on this project. Since I'm not sure if you saw my question last time, I was going to ask again what you think about releasing them under a more "gentle" CC license (without the -ND) so other people co...

I changed some of your tool names to match the new default texture names and re-colored some block designs for the new default tool-set so more of my world looked toon-ish. Hello, it is I again here to update you guys and gals with the PixelBOX Fun Pack. The Fun Pack is just a large set of textures at random for you guys to used for mods and such. I names them all "default" due to the fact there are multiple mods that share the same concept of textures. That's your guy...

Are any of these close to being made into minetest mods? Because minetest really needs more 3d mobs, and I really want that nyan cat and some other ones. Right now there are no default mobs in minetest and only a few good 3d ones that you can download as mods. No, these are nothing more than concep...

Usually it's like this: If Minetest doesn't have something Minecraft has, their argument is: "This game sucks, it can't even do the same things as Minecraft. If you're going to clone a game, at least try to copy everything." If Minetest has the same features as Minecraft, their argument is: "Look, w...

The Mimic mob. Until I can makes for textures for teeth and mouth, this is pretty much what I have for creepy tricky mobs set. It should behave like a normal block (not chest) until it is clicked on (right or left) that's when it should spring up and bite. http://filesmelt.com/dl/cursed_chest1.png

I had my go on a redesign awhile ago. The Minetest logo was made by dakal, I only did a minor tweak of it but full credit should still belong to him. In the second page, in the MC/Mt comparison, you should also add in Minetest being open-source.

Also, there are too many lines crisscrossing in page 5.
