This is a mostly frozen copy of the Minetest forums through 2017. If you know phpBB3 and would like to host any G-rated forum here, you can email: me@minetest.org
If the email doesn't work, find out who's taken over Final Minetest from OldCoder and email them to get write access or an admin account.
I should have set this up years ago. But it's no tale of woe.
Whether the temperature is high or low, regardless of cold winds blow,
away we go like Edgar Allan Poe, on now with the show. BTW rhymes are welcome.
I've tried different clipboard managers that are available in the Ubuntu repositories. The only one I could find that would work with Minetest is "Xclipboard". Xclipboard copies text only. There is a glitch and I don't know which program it comes from, Minetest or Xclipboard. When pasting into Mine...
I think a better option than a craftable book would be an in-menu crafting guide. RealBadAngel has a great example of what that might look like. However, maybe the "g" key should open up the craft guide page. Of course, that would require engine work, so maybe not. Then again, it might make it easie...
Fun fact: they don't have the original mese image, and without the test image, they are just another node. Mese was only special because it was an artefact left over from testing. Mese is no longer a leftover test object. While this may be seen as good or bad (I will remain neutral on this subject)...
the texture is still in default/textures also mese exists but has a new look. The only thing changed was the look to make it fit with crystals. I checked github and found out that the original texture was removed pilzadam please add it back to legacy. Since iron apples aren't in legacy code. But me...
NO! Keep the nyan cat. It's as much a fixture of Minetest as mese blocks are. And yet mese blocks (or at least the version of them that were a fixture of Minetest) were removed. Mese was just a test block, and with that taken away, mese now means very little to the game, and is no longer a tribute ...

If you want infinite resources, go into creative mode and add more stuff. I know that it's cheating, but anything infinite is a cheat, because nothing is infinite. Infinite resources isn't cheating. It's sustainability. Without infinite resources, long-time running worlds will run out. Creative mod...
It would be nice to have a few enemies. Enemies open up some new doors. Although I would prefer them lack the destructive capabilities they once had. It's fun when they can kill players, it's not fun when they kill your creations. What's even the point though, if you can seal yourself in your fortr...
One thing i like about minecraft is 1) changeable tetures ingam. I can change my texture in the middle of digging for blocks. I know 0gb would like this cause if he finds a certain texture pack he likes and he is mining he can switch to his mining texturepack. * 0gb.us uses his mining texture pack ...
Another solution might be to have infinite lava at the bottom of the world. That way, you really have to work to get to it. Of course, that would have to wait until the edges are stabilized, and bad things no longer happen there. Okay, so you are saying that the people that are OK with this change n...
Guys! Guys! I FIGURED IT OUT! On a wild hunch, I decided to check my IP address. MY ISP CHANGED IT WITHOUT TELLING ME! We haven't been able to access the server, because DNS wasn't updated to accommodate this change. I couldn't accept incoming traffic BECAUSE IT WAS BEING SENT TO THE WRONG PLACE! I'...
EDIT: I'm getting really sick of everyone bitching for small things. EDIT2: With this method, you don't have to worry about updating minetest_game; it will make lava renewable whether or not it was renewable before. The issue isn't about what arbitrary things the API is capable of, or what custom g...
Really? I think developers of minetest MUST do everything they think is right for minetest_game and add a lot of features in minetest. It's their game, so they can make all they want. If you don't like at all (for example, I don't like obsidian) create a new fork of the game. Both proyects will fee...

I swear, I wonder sometime. You make some awesome changes to the game, but you also make awful changes. With you, it's a mixed bag. I never know what to expect from you.
I didn't know you switched it. I thought you meant how did the texture look. Though I am still iffy about the new Way to make obsidian but since you made lava unrenewable I am kinda regretting wanting obsidian since it made lava unrenewable. It's not your fault, Jojoa. Take another look at that com...
First the obsidian was my pull request but in my defence I had it where lava source and water made obsidian GLASS but pilzadam changed it so now you have to make obsidian glass from rock. Also my way had hard obsidian be be made by cooking shares in a furnace because that was the only way. High pre...
I think Minecraft has some good features, some neutral features, and some downright awful features. The problem come when we sample features from all three groups. It would be preferable to come up with our own features, but copying Minecraft's good and neutral features isn't inherently a bad thing....
i would like to ask evryone to forget about minecraft for just a minute and think what does the obsidian adds to the game....i havent tried obsidian yet looks interesting and it might add stuff to the game but i don't quite see what that might be... It would add just as much to the game if he calle...
I personally think lava should be renewable, but not as easy to get as it is if it were refilling. I think this is a fair compromise - obsidian and derivatives are still valuable (because work/creativity is required), and long-running worlds are still sustainable. Now how this should be implemented...
Can't even hit 0gb.us. I might be able to act as a backup server in a few months. Are you able to send outbound traffic? I'm thinking a system where your system can "push" the world over FTP, and give a request to start it up during downtime on your side. I don't know what you mean about pushing ov...
For me, Obsidain has the advantage of having a very dark/black texture - good for building. Sometimes you just need something of that color. It ought to be not too rare for that purpose. In that way, clay is far too rare - after all, it is a more suitable building material than white wool. Maybe ob...

Yes. Apparently. But not all at once. Some things that can go wrong won't right away. That way, you can solve one problem, and fall into a false sense of security. Then the next problem jumps out at you ....

Traxie21 wrote:Can a sustainable stone generator be made eith the new lava?
Stone? Yes. Flowing lava becomes stone, so as long as you keep the water away from the lava source, you should be able to gather stone for as long as your pick holds out.
Also, trying it out, it seems the new obsidian is HARD LIKE IN MINECRAFT. In other words, you ARE copying Minecraft. Obsidian is a GLASS. It is brittle and EASY TO BREAK. Yes, I am copying minecraft here. But I dont add it to copy minecraft but to add a good aspect to the gameplay. And we shouldnt ...
Right now, my ISP or router or something is blocking all incoming traffic. I have no idea why. I tried port forwarding to another computer, no effect. I tried connecting using the local address, and it works, meaning the server is still responding. I have no idea what's going on, but I'm not happy a...
