I should have set this up years ago. But it's no tale of woe.
Whether the temperature is high or low, regardless of cold winds blow,
away we go like Edgar Allan Poe, on now with the show. BTW rhymes are welcome.
Yeah, I think you're right. But streaming is probably going to be hard. Maybe some sort of “smart loading” could be implemented, only loading the most important files first and the less important files could be loaded when you're in the game. But I have hoped there is maybe a simple trick which I co...
This information is also in the wiki: http://wiki.minetest.net/Map_generator_features I think these floatlands are really interesting. Another interesting property of the floatlands in Minetest Game is that they have all the ores at peak probability, because they are above Y=1024. See also: http://w...
Because it's relevant I just dump two lists of missing Minetest features which are required for MineClone 2, a Minecraft clone: List of missing engine features: http://repo.or.cz/MineClone/MineClone2.git/blob/HEAD:/MISSING_ENGINE_FEATURES.md List of MineClone 2 issues with the label “needs engine ch...
Thank you for mentioning the beacon mod. I obviously can't use it verbatim because the Minecraft beacon is very unique. But the style looks definitely like something I can use. But the beacon has a low priority, so it has to wait when everything else works fine. I am still desperately looking for a ...
I feel really dumb now but I can't get started with Minetest schematics (.mts files). There does not seem much information on the file format. I want to modify a schematic file but I don't know how. WorldEdit can only load .we files. So how can I modify an existing schematic file or somehow load it ...
Wiki.minetest.net is the real Minetest Wiki with way too much information about Minetest and Minetest Game. Wiki.minetest.com is an old rotten zombie from the underworld which must be killed with fire! I'm surprised it is still alive after all these years. In its earlier life it once was a real wik...
Note: The mese post lamp is only in the developer version and was a recent addition. In the developer version the cost of a mese lamp was also reduced from 1 glass and 3 mese crystals to 1 glass and 1 mese crystal.
This sounds pretty overengineered to me and also VERY specialized. But well, if some people like it, whatever. I wouldn't mind this feature because it is easy to ignore. I think it may be possible at subgame level and probably is not even hard. Subgames can have their own configuration parameters, a...
I'm not too excited about this, to be honest, but oh well, I could still give it a shot. Maybe it turns out to be good. To get back to the core topic here, I think what saavedra29 suggests sounds good. Current ore generation in Minetest Game is very basic indeed. The ore probabilities jump sharply w...
Hahaha, I feel very sorry for you. So much hate for not using GitHub. Almost 2 PAGES just about GitHub and almost no post about the game. So I think it is about time to give some more random assorted comments about this game: First of all, this is definitely one of the better Minetest Game forks. Th...
It would be 100% better if the offending mods would be OFFICIALLY fixed by the mod authors. Asking the users to fix the bugs on their own is insulting. PS: I have heard the 3d_armor very recently got a bugfix which means it finally works with Minetest Game 0.4.15 again. PPS: Unified Inventory is alr...
Hi! Are there any tricks to reduce the loading times for subgames/mods? I have a jukebox mod with a lot of Ogg Vorbis files inside which apparently are loaded everytime the subgame is started (seems Minetest does not know what “cache” is …). I also noticed that removing the jukebox mod significantly...
The thing is, the underground in almost all subgames so far gets boring fast. First, >90% is the generic stone (there are no other stone types except near surface), then there are a few ores from time to time and that's basically it. The rule is almost always “the deeper you dig, the more you find”....
I remember when I first time digged down and reached "emptiness", "blaсk nothing". I did not believe my eyes. I dig stone, another one, another one, then... black window to nowhere. Did I reach the edge of the world? Well, I was on ladder so I did not fell there. It turned out, ...
These are the light sources in Minetest Game 0.4.15: ⋅ Torch ⋅ Mese Lamp ⋅ Fire ⋅ Permanent Flame ⋅ Nyan Cat ⋅ Nyan Cat Rainbow ⋅ Lava Source ⋅ Flowing Lava That's it! There are no ceiling lamps. Here is the 100% scienti...
- The mod settings can now be change in Minetest's advanced settings menu - (hopefully) fix possible scenario that displayed armor is outside of allowed bounds (fixes error message flood) - Nothing else of interest.
Start versioning from 1.0. No, we should not lie to ourself. 1.0 usually means “stable” and/or “finished” and it is generally not a good idea to break with this convention. Minetest is far from being finished. Many core features are missing, many bugs are unfixed, there are tons of usability proble...
Fixer-007 on GitHub posted some very creative alternatives (for Minetest Game) which are almost even more crazy than the sneak elevators. Placing a boat in a water column (allegedly it is very fast): https://cloud.githubusercontent.com/assets/16494741/23628810/3c4a3266-02be-11e7-821b-40a0d5ff01e3.pn...
I have done some Minetest archeology lately and dug up information on map generators. Here are some interesting screenshots from my work: Mapgen “indev” in Minetest 0.4.9 First it just looks like v6: http://wiki.minetest.net/images/1/17/Mapgen_indev_spawn.jpg But it had floating islands: http://wiki...
