Re: OldCoder mod concepts

This is a copy of a letter to soultest, who asked about the procedure for making planetoids: It's easy to make little planets using WorldEdit. Try this: 1. Add the WorldEdit modpack to your copy of Minetest 2. Run Minetest in single user mode and play as the admin user 3. Grant yourself the fly pri...

Re: OldCoder Solartest

how do you get scifi nodes? They were just added recently, so I haven't looked at this yet. There are so many different types that the best way to go might be to sell chests full of the nodes or make the chests appear in exchange for specified actions. For now, I'll probably just give the chests to...

Re: I Would Like Someone To Host My server ?

So, there's no map yet? No existing buildings? If somebody asks me to start a new empty world, I usually suggest that they build in one of my existing worlds. There are plenty of worlds already; it's difficult to justify setting aside server resources to host a new one that's empty. When there's an...

Re: I Would Like Someone To Host My server ?

If possible, upload a ZIP file of the world to a hosting site and send me a link. Try to include the complete directory tree. Add copies of any modified or non-standard mods that you're using. If you provide a ZIP file, I'll at least take a look. You can reach me by forum PM here or by email to: ol...

Re: OldCoder Lord of the Test

1. You can now tame Pet Ores. To do so, feed them black wool instead of simply wielding it. Note: The material used will probably be changed in the future. 2, If you successfully tame an ore, it won't age as rapidly. Additionally, it will follow you around, if you're not too far away. You can still...

Re: OldCoder Moontest

boilerplate built a farm, using air generators, in a glass room on an asteroid in Solartest: http://minetest.org/images/160330_boilerfarm_firstlevel.jpg After boilerplate finished the farm, he wanted to add a second level. I told him that I'd try an experiment instead. I used WorldEdit to make the ...

Re: OldCoder general mod issues

This is a cross-post from my Lord of the Test thread. By popular demand, Pet Ores have been added to Lord of the Test. These are similar to the Pet Rocks of the 1970s but more active and more valuable. I haven't implemented taming yet, but presently they'll follow you if you're wielding black wool....

Gerald, thank you. If you're able to share the coordinates, edit the post and add them. We'd be interested in hearing more about the city as well, either its imaginary history or technical details.

Re: OldCoder Moontest

wilkgr76, Hi.

I ask that people take minor individual player issues related to interact, inventories, protected areas, being able to log-in, etc., to IRC, forum PM, or email. My forum threads aren't intended for working out issues of these types.

Re: OldCoder Moontest

1. The nose of the Ironclad, a nice spaceship in Solartest, has been repaired. I think that it was clipped by a WorldEdit accident. Thanks go to the players who reported the issue. To visit the Ironclad, go to Solartest and type: /ironclad 2. The seas on Earth in Solartest are a little deeper now. ...

Re: OldCoder general mod issues

1. Two players were too aggressive about harvesting Codersea clams and starfish, so I've given the sea animals a means for self-defense. There's a chance now, when you attack a clam or a starfish, that it'll turn out to be an exploding variety. The animals are made out of dynamite now. 2. As a sepa...

Re: I'm looking for a new server!

Nores mg mapgen used to have such a feature. Adventuretest as well (as it was originally based on Nores mg). None of these currently seem to be used on a server. Actually, the "earthgen" mod that I'm using to generate the Earth in Solartest is descended from "mg" and includes th...

Re: OldCoder Lord of the Test

Just a couple of screenshots for fun. I'm not sure which world the first one, the Toilet Band screenshot, is from. The second screenshot is from Lord of the Test. Re: OldCoder general mod issues

Re: OldCoder general mod issues

OldCoder - How did you get the plants to work in water without the air around it? The credit for that feature goes to Topywo, the author of the old "sea" mod. The old mod replaces normal water blocks around "sea" objects with custom water blocks. If the "sea" objects a...

Re: OldCoder general mod issues

My "codersea" mod now places seaglass and seastone, from the old "sea" mod, as well as clams, seaplants, and shipwrecks. Everything but shipwrecks is/are added whether areas are already generated or not; this is one advantage that the mod has over "sea". The goals of &...

ycul managed to fall through a hole in the lower edge of the Earth and into outer space. To prevent this unfortunate occurrence from happening to others, the Earth mapgen now adds a bedrock layer. The bedrock layer is based on jn's "bedrock" mod. It's been modified so that the bedrock lay...

The new Earth now has fish, sharks, turtles, and other aquatic life. Note that you can breathe underwater in this world; we'll assume that humans have been engineered in the future for the purpose. So, undersea colonies will be possible. I'm testing "codersea", my fork of "sea",...

By request, Solartest (also known as Moontest) has been updated as follows: 1. The day-night cycle has been turned on. As part of this, the Earth now has its own night sky. 2. The Moon now rises, travels across the Earth's sky, and sets. 3. The size of the Moon, as seen from the Earth, has been adj...
