so if a friend places a travelnet like this: station name: carl home network: land owner: carl what should my travelnet be look like to be connected to his? Enter the name of the new station (i.e. "Minds station"), the same network name (here: "land") and the owner name (here: &...

Re: [Server] VanessaE's Creative Server [git]

The spawn on this server has been moved out east of the East Street/Ring Road intersection. As such, the area surrounding the old spawn (accessible via the "Gridknot" and "Cityknot" Travelnet networks) has been renamed to "Central City". That's a very good idea. I even...

Re: [Mod] travelnet teleporters/bookmarks [2.0][travelnet]

That's right. Anyone with the travelnet_attach priv can add travelnets to the networks of other players. That is what the "owned_by" input field is for.

Re: M.I.L.A.

I bet it will have bugs. Hey, please don't say things like that. If you think it will have bugs before the project is really started, you think it's funny? Might as well see that comment in a positive way :-) Any reasonably large (not trivial) programming porject *will* have bugs. They're hard to a...

Re: Post your mapgen questions here (modding or engine)

Yes, I do not want to create decorative items. I want to create structures such as villages. That was my original intention as well, but it didn't prove to be practical. Most horizontal areas will not be large enough for your village anyway. And it's not exactly cheap to locate such areas. In the e...

Re: AdventureTest

In fact, these mobs are not "pre programmed" in any sense. They simply run tasks from a queue, and the tasks are written to enqueue "subtasks". These NPCs were not told to build any particular block, but rather were told to "find a place to live".The "find a place...

Update: The dirt road from cottages now comes with junctions, t-junctions and curves. https://forum.minetest.net/download/file.php?mode=view&id=7342 The dirt roads in mg_villages tended to look a bit odd after I lowered the gravel on the streets a bit (it's not a full node anymore). The idea wa...

Re: [Mod] Unified Inventory [git][unified_inventory]

That's a nice addition. That way it will become easier to figure out how to obtain certain items and materials. Unified_inventory is a very useful mod. It takes getting used to, but once that's managed, you don't want to miss it anymore.

Re: @test@ Just Test II [SERVER]

As with the original, this server will also do periodic map shrinks with his same unexplore script to keep the map size small. He once sent me in private the entire map, a year old map and it was 267 megs. ESM on the other hand is about 5 gigabites, much too much to be read and written constantly, ...

Re: Cash's World Server

I love the dome :) What was that sci-fi flic that had spaceships with flora-filled domes? The crews were ordered to jettison the domes, destroy them, then return to earth. A crew member of only one ship did not do that. The crew would race around the ship in buggies. That was "Silent running&q...

Re: Please stop using WTFPL

However, I think that by attaching a license at all you're sort of acknowledging that a license is significant In those situations it's mostly for the benefit of people who expect a liscence where I think none is warranted (i.e. just a simple node definition or very simple code). The text of the li...

Re: Redesigning the broken crafting system

The existing shape-based crafting system is good for basic gameplay. Even later on, quickly crafting a pick or a chest from a receipe stored in memory is usually the fastest and most convenient way. As soon as the amount of nodes increases, craft guides become necessary. Unified_inventory does a goo...

Re: [vote] Is there any need for baked clay in default game?

Baked clay is a very decorative building material, especially that version used on Xanandu. I'm undecided weather or not it ought to be included in the default game as the default game will always be lacking in regard to diversity of nodes. Yet...it really is a good and even somewhat realistic build...

Re: Please stop using WTFPL

I usually use WTFPL for very short pieces of code which could be considered examples/hints given to readers as to how things can be done. Something that doesn't really warrant its own liscence due to lack of Schöpfungshöhe (er...level of ingenuity/novelity) but gets WTFPL attached nevertheless so th...

Re: How to make Trees?

Not exactly true, although most schematics are used that way and most of us don't care about the random factors that can be applied. Most of us don't know that is is possible or how it works. Didn't see any doc about this yet It is described in doc/lua_api.txt under "Schematic specifier"....

They both use L-Trees, which is buggy as far as I know. moretrees causes ugly shadows. Don't know how it is with trees_lib trees_lib just offers all known methods of placing trees - be it an algorithm, L-System or schematics (either file or table) The lib can optionally register all the necessary n...

You might also want to add the sea modpack. It comes with luminiscent flowers, shipwrecks, clams and the like and makes the sea bed far more intresting (and bright!) to look at. Re: [Proposition] Trusting players

First of: Protection is *not* an expression of not trusting players. Protection can be helpful even to players who have no griefing at all in mind and just place a torch or dig something in order to get told who build that nice structure on that area they're currently exploring. Re: Ideas for a new leafdecay system

The idea sounds very intresting. Some additional information as to which tree trunk a particular leaf thinks it belongs to would make lumberjack mods (cut the whole tree including leaves) more efficient and leave less leaves floating around. Leaf decay can be very slow at times on servers.
