why not just remove their shout priv for some time so they can play but not talk?

Why should spammer/troublemaker have ability to play though? If they had their warning and still continue, i think kick/limit is only option.
Taking shout priv won't solve much,
since then they can make signs and write on it.
Or do other types of trouble like griefing, etc.

Exactly.

I have had times that I wished I could use a lesser punishment on someone just to get their attention. a limit that only lasts for a day, or removing shout only for one hour, for example. But those would be attempts to get (usually kids) who are just ignoring the moderator to realize that we are serious. After several warnings and infractions it becomes obvious that some people are not willing to play cooperatively and will be nothing but trouble, so, for the benefit of everyone, we remove them.

My password is now pretty much random and unable to be hacked. Pain to type it in, but it is what it is.

Thanks for the reminder, I was using a typable password but just changed it to something very long and random. I've been using this script to launch minetest so long random passwords don't matter. This should work for Linux and OSX users, and Windows users should be able to easily convert it to a batch script. Be sure to replace USERNAME and PASSWORD with your credentials. :)

I don't know if it's possible for admins but maybe they can search accounts for known weak passwords (a password list hashed, like rainbow tables I think they're called), and just lock them out until the player in question asks for their account back.

Anyone who started a new account or changed their password with 0.4.13 or above on new map are using SRP passwords. Same password on two different servers produces two different tokens, no way to compare with rainbow tables. Those who started a new account with 0.4.12 and below, and haven't changed password with a 0.4.13+ client, are still using the old hashed passwords, and those could be in a rainbow table.

You must login to the server, which requires the old password. Then press ESC and select change password in the menu.

when its written in all caps, which is rude, cause on internet its considered as yelling.
I can assume thats maybe why you didnt like the server, cause on Xanadu you are not allowed to keep talking in all caps.

I know it's wrong to feed the troll, but let me give you a spade so you can dig yourself in deeper. If you're going to use words like "Orthography" it would help if you understood the full meaning of the word and were able to use it in a grammatically correct sentence. One part of Orthography is the rules of capitalisation. On Xanadu, ALL CAPS is considered shouting, whether you agree with that or not. It's also harder to read; so you lose again.

Apart from that, we're all essentially hanging out in Shinji_Ikari's front room, if you don't like the house rules there are 150-odd other Minetest servers you could try; many are moderated less strongly than Xanadu and some not at all. Most players have no idea how stressful it can be running a busy server; so people make decisions you don't like, get over it, it's only a game.

One last thing, I want to put in a good word for Bobr, he's a good player and he cares about the game. If any mods or admin want to talk further /msg me when I next come and visit, in this situation I might be able to help.

Hi! I'm agree with afflatus. Are there many servers for to choose where you want to play.
In the other hand, I always was a little bit afraid for the amazing powers of admin and moderators in Xanadu. But all they always gave us the best effort with a enormous amenity and I want to congratulate them for that. Thank you very much. Xanadu is the best server of Minetest thanks to work of this community.

SRP doesn't prevent a player from using a weak password that can easily be guessed. Players might use better passwords if minetest had a means of storing them and applied some basic restrictions such as password length and mixture of letters, numbers and symbols.

Botch, inside the area covered by protection nodes only the owner(s) of that protection can hurt you. All of spawn, the roads etc etc are protected. Ofc. the farms are not, so that everyone can harvest. Step out of the farm and you are safe.
PVP is almost limitless since the new map, so you have to keep that in mind...

Could we have the no PVP at all times back please?

EDIT: I know of no acacia tree farm, maybe it was aspen?

the farms are small, so it's possible to stand in the protected are and dig the trees from there.

and here's a ninja trick to get an advantage in pvp in the wild world:
carry a protector node in your hotbar.
when you get attacked, slam it on the ground and you are invincible :3

this also helps when fighting DMs and DLs, they can still damage you, but they can't blast a hole under your feet ;)

also if you want to get revenge, hide a protector underground beforehand. then your opponent can't use his own protector :P
(smart adversaries will check for hidden protectors.)

Won't help in two situations.
1 : when nearby prot nodes won't let you place your block (such as usually is the case in public forests/farms)
2 : when the person determined to kill you is an annoyed moderator who just keeps teleporting you elsewhere so they can split your skull open. :)

we have them since last year :)
tame a sheep and feed it with dye.
only white sheeps can be dyed and only once. colours cannot be changed.
when breeding sheep, the children will have the colour of the "mother".
