That's the weirdest thing ... The server is still up, but I can't even connect to it via its local network address any more. This isn't good.

0gb.us, Are you running this server via home network?

Is there a firewall running on that computer? Are you able to ping it? Does the server have multiple network cards?

There's probably a firewall somewhere, but I haven't had time to learn to set it up. No, I was also unable to ping it, but that was one of the first things I tried.

Yes, as that's all I have.

It's the oddest thing. Debian quit talking to the router. I though my Ethernet cord was damaged, but rebooting Debian fixed the issue .....

I regret to inform you, but due to connectivity issues, I had to reboot the server. Apparently, this corrupted the world data. Minetest could no longer load the world.

Because of our daily backup copy, we were able to restore almost everything. But changes over the past day have been lost. I apologise for the inconvenience.

Let me see .... The backup made this morning was corrupted, because it was copied from the world data AFTER it had been corrupted. So I used the data from the morning of the 17th.

Right now, my ISP or router or something is blocking all incoming traffic. I have no idea why. I tried port forwarding to another computer, no effect. I tried connecting using the local address, and it works, meaning the server is still responding. I have no idea what's going on, but I'm not happy about it.

I know, right? As soon as one problem is fixed, several more problems pop up. Can't everything go well for once?

Yes. Apparently. But not all at once. Some things that can go wrong won't right away. That way, you can solve one problem, and fall into a false sense of security. Then the next problem jumps out at you ....

I might be able to act as a backup server in a few months. Are you able to send outbound traffic?

I'm thinking a system where your system can "push" the world over FTP, and give a request to start it up during downtime on your side.
Admin pro tempore on 0gb.us:30000. Ask me if you have a problem, or just want help.
This is a signature virus. Add me to your signature so that I can multiply.
Now working on my own clone, Mosstest.
I guess I'm back for some time.

I don't know what you mean about pushing over FTP, but I seem to be able to access servers (both Web and Minetest) as usual. So I can send requests, and receive responses.

Guys! Guys! I FIGURED IT OUT! On a wild hunch, I decided to check my IP address. MY ISP CHANGED IT WITHOUT TELLING ME! We haven't been able to access the server, because DNS wasn't updated to accommodate this change. I couldn't accept incoming traffic BECAUSE IT WAS BEING SENT TO THE WRONG PLACE! I've fixed the DNS records. We just need to wait for the DNS cache to expire, then we'll be able to connect as before.

Yay! I'm still going to work on a failover system.

Okay, great. It looks like we may need it. Debian does not get along with the router (or perhaps its own network interface card?) and keeps disconnecting. Until I find a way to fix that, the server is going to keep going offline and online.

The server is having a problem where the executable is loading the wrong world. Please hold for more news.

The executable was loading the world I told it to. That wasn't an error.

The solution is that people need to block damages using land claims. The problem comes in when people insist upon not using claims, such as in the new city above the spawn area.

Not the best place for a town .... It's casting a nasty shadow, and with it unclaimed, it makes the perfect spot to dump water and lava from ....

If you want, we can shut the server off anyway. It might give me time to fix the disconnection issues we've been having.

If not, I'll claim the area myself, and put up a defensive ceiling to block the downpour.

I haven't been able to go on your server recently. Every time I try it seems to take forever to connect
