Sorry josh, when storms are in the area the server gets shut down... Lightning already destroyed a modem/router so until a UPS is installed then it gets closed down to keep things safe...

The Willow trees look AMAZING!!!
Do they have an biome of there own or do they spawn in every single biome?

Having a LOT of fun in Xanadu!

I planted mushroom spores, in the same area where giant mushrooms were growing, and just got small mushrooms.
I planted a jungle tree sapling in earth, near water, at a bit of a higher altititude than another jungle tree was growing, and just got a jungle tree sapling, it doesn't seem to be growing even after several day night cycles with me nearby.

What is required to grow the large forms?

Mushroom spores will only grow edible mushrooms on tilled soil, you would need to harvest giant mushroom tops to get a giant mushroom sapling that will only grow on purple shroom soil... As for jungle tree's, the saplings only grow on jungle soil (dark green)... Each sapling is designed so it can only grow in the biome it came from so you need a crystal shovel to pick up specific dirt in order to grow them elsewhere...

Thank you very much TenPlus1! Now I just need to figure out how to get a crystal shovel I would assume by digging down until I hit a crystal biome...
About how deep do they occur? And fairly rare I would assume?

The crystal biome is above ground, blue dirt and tall blue tree's with pink leaves... the crystals spawn on the grass and require a steel or better pick to obtain them... or you could kill crystal spiders as sometimes they drop them also...

If you are simply looking to join the server, then you don't need to download any mods: you only need the minetest client. If you are looking to do your own local copy of the mods (perhaps you want to play in your own world on your own time, when you don't have an internet connection) then you would indeed need the mods downloaded. The links to those mods are given in the first post.

Why can't you enter on GitHub?

There are some mods on the server, that are not in the first post. If I understood correctly, only TenPlus1 got the rights from the creators to use/modify them for the server. He didn't get the right to publish them on the forum.

When I enter on github appear these words:
Invalid server certificate.
You attempted to reach www.github.com , but the server presented an invalid certificate.
I have Opera browser (with any other browser give me this error).I checked date and time proprieties . Please help me. :(

You're using a Linux distribution/which version?

With my limited knowledge of computers and software, I would only advice you to update to the latest (stable) version of your operating system (OS) and/or run the "software updater" (for Lubuntu it's under system tools). It might be that then the latest certificates will be installed.

I've also looked for "GitHub invalid certificate" on internet. There are several solutions, but the people giving those solutions most of the times warn to be careful using their solution. I can't give you advice about those solutions.

I killed an evil looking tree monster with big ugly teeth and it dropped a "jungle sapling"
What is the difference between a "Jungletree sapling" and a "jungle sapling" ?

Also, do crystals ever regrow in a crystal biome? I've got enough for my needs now, but there is a biome closer to home where I've been harvesting frost wood, and I noticed that it was completely cleared of crystal saplings the first time I've found it. And none have regrown during the time I spent lumberjacking there. So I'm assuming that crystals are NOT a renewable resource?

thanks!

Crystal Spikes arent renewable but if you kill enough crystal spiders they will drop some...

The jungle sapling the tree monsters drop only grow on jungle soil and the jungletree sapling is the one default to minetest...

new set of stupid newbie questions, this time about farming!
1: Strawberries
Strawberries seem to have a very low reproduction rate. Occasionally a ripe strawberry plant will yield more than one seed, but the majority of the time harvesting one ripe strawberry plant yields several strawberries, but only one seed to replant with. Is this intended or am I doing something wrong?

2: Mushrooms
The life cycle of edible mushrooms seems very odd. I plant a mushroom spore it grows into an edible mushroom. harvest that and you get several edible mushrooms. Plant an edible mushroom, and it becomes a non-edible mushroom, which you may harvest to get more mushroom spore and repeat the cycle. It works, but it seems very odd, again, am I misunderstanding or doing something wrong?

3: Wild Carrots
Are wild Carrots just a flower? Because they don't seem to grow or produce carrots. (Unlike wild onions which produce onions just fine)

4: Fern Tubers
These don't seem to grow or mature, but very occasionally produce a fern tuber. I assume they just drop tubers by random chance when plucked?

Thank you very much!

1. Strawberries are suppose to give more berries than seeds, most of which is random in their drops... I'm toying with changing it so you plant an actual strawberry to grow a new bushel...

2. Picking up a mushroom gives you spores to plant and obtain an edible mushroom as native one's are poisonous... Placing an edible shroom and picking it back up gives the spores again to replant with...

3. Wild Carrots are just the name of the flower in real life, it's not edible...

4. Ferns randomly give you fern tubers which are a food item and will not regrow since ferns spread by themselves like flowers...

I will be looking into the food items in Ethereal mod soon and may be adding more plants with better drops...

Thank you for the helpful answers!

Please note though that the above were not complaints, just questions. However, if you are looking to improve farming, consider if there is a way to make trees like pine trees, apple trees, banana trees, and coconut trees regrow their fruit after harvesting (besides cutting down the trees and replanting). It would be awesome to be able to plant an orchard and harvest from it on a regular bases. I'm not certain if that would be practical from a game mechanics point of view thought.

I wished for something similar at the beginning, but I'm usually very low on wood (much more than low on apples), so it's probably a good idea to have to harvest the wood as well. And imagine how difficult it would be to reach all those fruits inside that bulb of leaves :-)

That's why the leaves should regrow as well!

But I see your point. I was thinking I needed a lumber yard anyway, so best to combine it with the orchard.

Spend all day at working thinking about what I want to do with the project I am working on on xanadu, and get home only to discover the server has gone down. First world problems. :)
