DTAMedia Server Public (BETA:Always)

by DARGON » Sun Aug 16, 2015 18:36

***NEW UPDATE:*** Server back up after a long down-time! Sorry about that! have done a lot of updates/changes, and unfortunately the original world is no longer being used... So a fresh new world! All user data has been imported, Privileges and Inventories are working. This includes Blocks that are no longer supported (now Unknown Blocks).

How to become an Interactive Member of our Minetest Community:

Current Version: Minetest 0.4.12 (stable)
Server Name: DTAMedia.info
Port: 50000
Rated [I-NM] There is an open connection to our IRC Channel in the game that is not always monitored. Game play includes artistic expression and may be mature in nature.

To gain interact privs (so you can do more than just chat) you will need to choose your way of entering the game:

a) Type: /justreadthem To go visit Rule Enforcement To Accept the Rules -
Rule Enforcement is where you can read the Rules and gain access to the entire world and have access to Public Resources.

b) Type: /acceptmission To take EcchiTenshi's Mission To Gain INTERACT -
EcchiTenshi's Mission is where you can play a game to read the Rules, and gain access to the entire world and have access to Public Resources.

c) Watch the Video, and follow the Instructions at: http://PlayMinetest.WitWGARA.com To Accept the Rules -
Watching the Video is a way you can listen to the Rules, and gain access to the entire world and have access to Public Resources. YOU MUST HAVE ANOTATIONS ON

d) If you refuse to read the Rules You may choose to be an "Outlaw" and be sent to the WitWGARA Penal Colony to live out your Life there. Type: /outlaw -
If have choose to be Outlaw you are restricted to the Penal Colony. You can not dig below 270 blocks down, and there is a "fermament" above the clouds you can not penitrate

need to read all the signs when you login and follow the instructions given. Contact DARGON (in game, in chat, or on forum) or EcchiTenshi (in game, or in chat) if you have any problem with this process or other issue. The reason for the strict rules is due to those who have nothing better to do than destroy others work. ALL Rules once granted Interact must be followed.

1) Respect other users and the Mods/Admins!

2) Do not attempt to break into areas locked with iron doors or where it's obvious the area is not public (this goes along with rule 1, you may get auto banned when attempting to break in).

3) Do not make death holes (holes so deep that players falling in can be hurt or dead), unless you have placed a "Warning Sign" and the hole is located within your claimed territory!

4) Do not build over or destroy established roads or paths, your structure may be destroyed to clear the road or path you have blocked, repeat offenders may be banned.

5) You must leave a "Easement" between your build/claim site and any other existing structure! This Easement is roughly 20 Blocks. Building too close to others claims will be considered Griefing!

6) No griefing, attempting to grief a claimed area will get you auto banned by the system. This includes editing other's signs (including rules signs!).

7) Do not flood the map with water or lava! Only Admins/Mods are allowed to place Water or Lava.

8) Do not harass other players. Don't insult others! Don't ask if you can become admin or mod.

9) If you are inactive for over 3 weeks, if somebody wants your land it may be unclaimed

10) Exploiting glitches/using a hacked client will get you banned without warning.

11) Don't advertise for other servers on our server!

Hm, seems nice. I will test it later on.

Some questions: Why are you using such an old version of the game?
Why you allow land theft if somebody has not loged in 3 weeks?
Are sneak elevators allowed?
Why is the port so different compared to the default one? (30000)

Why you allow land theft if somebody has not loged in 3 weeks?

I do the same thing on the Voidpixel server but ours is about 5 weeks instead of 3. Also if the build is decent it will not be over claimed. I do this to 1. keep the server having abundance of free land because we all know that newbies join find a place to claim and then just leave 2. this keeps cobble and plain wood houses out of the server and leaves room for more for legit builders without them having to travel to the other side of the map where the builds have a chance to never be seen. I hope this clarifies a little bit because I think he they do the same for similar reasons.

Thanks @clouds ^~^ you are exactly correct on the 3 week time on claimed builds. But in addition I would like to note that players who are on when admins are will usually be offered a biggest protect block to be placed on their claim, which will remain there unless another player wishes to claim an overlapping territory after those 3 weeks. Meaning the structure is not necessary demolished after 3 weeks of inactivity.
As to the game version the server has actually been updated to 0.4.12 stable, the error in main post is from my copy paste that I should have checked. The most recent info on the server is always at minetest.dtamedia.com (another oversite on my part as it was omitted from the post.)
There are a couple reasons for the odd port, the server as it is was an alternate server to one originally on à windows machine, and port was not changed in config or router when ported to Linux. It was a secondary security method to keep uninvited players off the alternate test server. Finally the port just never got changed since it was set to public cause it really makes no difference when you pick it from a list.

Hope I helped answer your question ^~^
And thanks for posting.

@Dragonop Sorry I missed that one... not sure what you mean by sneak elevators... So if you clarify I could better answer your question.

[edit] - I looked into "Sneak Elevators" and found what you meant.

So here is the reason why "Glitch Exploitation" is not allowed in general on our server:
1) the problem with using "Glitches" in your designs that are used to function a particular way is that when the game updates then those glitches may be removed. This will effectively make the function as originally intended stop working.
2) Glitches are the root of most "Cheats" making one player have an advantage over another, unfairly allowing that player to have better (or more of), something on the server.
3) Glitches are generally "bad", "incomplete", or "misused" code in the program running the server. Which means that it is an unintentional running of code that does not work as intended, which makes the outcome unpredictable, which may case server crashes or "loop crashes" in worst cause scenarios.

Sooo... the answer is this: if there is reasonable understanding and proof you can show that the "Glitch" in this case is not detrimental to the server in any of these ways, you may use "Sneak Elevators".

[resolved] - PM resolution reached with user Dragonop ^_^

Due to instabilities the Mesecons Modpack has been removed from this server.
