This looks really nice, but wouldn't the high and low res textures look strange besides each other?
And high-res textures(64+x64+) get very noisy and look bad at long ranges.
Never paint white stripes on roads near Zebra crossings.

Yes ... and/but no... .
We aren't finish with this and there will come some new textures soon.
The most textures are replaced - yes, the plants on the first screenshot should be updated soon ;-)

> And high-res textures(64+x64+) get very noisy and look bad at long ranges.

This depending on your client settings.

Latest News:

The Bridge Mod is now fixed: the base recipe is back working.

The mithril pickaxe is now as strong as the diamond and more robust.
We will rest this change a bit and add it to the other mithril stuff also.
    Also new textures follow soon.

Our glass texture is now fixed - the voxels are away.

We are now connected to our IRC channel on Freenode, #illuna-minetest.
Hopefully i will find a nice solution to connect it to our Jabber channel.

Please excuse us for the short mishap a few hours ago.
In interrelation to this, we have to do a servermaintenance morning at the young evening or late afternoon.
We will migrate our database from Redis to SSDB – a NoSQL database backend.
Its approximately 98% as fast as redis and let us control the memory usuage.
The mainenance will take upto two hours.
Sadly i cannot say, when it will begin because i didn’t know when i will be back at home to start. If you see any resetting areas, please dont play further and consult an admin.
Contact info is under /Kontakt on our homepage.
But it should be stable until the maintenance ;)
Our problem was and is a too big memory usuage from Redis (over 6G).

I'm working with the community of MinetestForFun servers.
Would you like to check out our github pages ? (especially this one : https://github.com/MinetestForFun/server-minetestforfun ).
Maybe French and German communities could work together ? :)

Hi Milan :)

Ever curious, saw your post and started to look briefly at your world's spawn.

Certainly bright! LOL :D

First time I've seen such rich detail --- I assume that's the higher-res textures mentioned elsewhere. Nice!

Saw a mob (bear?) just outside the Public Farm and tried to put on the initial-items armour. That failed and I assumed it's because of ''no interact.''

I couldn't even browse the initial-items blue-book ''Crafting Guide'' and I guess it's ''no interact'' to blame here too.

So I went as instructed to you website.

Went to try to sign-up for your forums : Failed! :(

Bit of a heads-up...

...and lots of us hate the overreaching tentacles of Google.

I use the latest Firefox locked-down with a handful of Add-Ons, and I know I'm not the only one.

Holding my nose and gag-reflex I temporarily permitted google and gstatic for the reCaptcha and successfully ''proved I'm not a robot'' time after time by clicking on flowers and chips and similar guff which helps them improve their algorithms ''all the better to spy on us.''

Despite all that...

Your registration page still does not show me Radio-Buttons for Gender or Tick-Boxes for T&C.

Instead it shows small rectangles.

These rectangles are similar to the occasions when something cannot display an Unknown Character.

These small rectangles are non-functional as Selection-Boxes for me.

On clicking Submit the page merely loops with the message that it requires the T&C.

Firefox's Inspect Element identifies the location as :
Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
Code: Select all
<label for="Form_Gender" class="RadioLabel icheck-label icheck[34v5s]"><div class="iradio icheck-item icheck[34v5s] checked"><input class="icheck-input icheck[34v5s]" id="Form_Gender" name="Gender" value="u" checked="checked" type="radio"></div> Unspecified</label>

and
Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
Code: Select all
<label for="Form_TermsOfService" class="CheckBoxLabel icheck-label icheck[lixwj]"><input name="Checkboxes[]" value="TermsOfService" type="hidden"><div class="icheckbox icheck-item icheck[lixwj] checked"><input class="icheck-input icheck[lixwj]" id="Form_TermsOfService" name="TermsOfService" value="1" type="checkbox"></div> I agree to the <a id="TermsOfService" class="Popup" target="terms" href="/home/termsofservice">terms of service</a></label>

Does not help first-impressions. And prevented my signing-up to your website.

Just wanted to let you know in case you can fix it.

Cheers
.

Maybe it needs a cookie or even more JavaScript :-/ I had the same problem on other forum sites. Milan eventually had mercy on me and created an account for me :-)

The server is really very nice and has some very impressive projects. The textures are also very nice. My beach hotel was copied over from the old tchnics server and is now beeing integrated into the landscape. The only annoying point are the so-called sendermen that visit you at night and just ask for beeing killed...ah yes, and bags are almost impossible to come by unless you start mass-murdering some innocent bears. But watching them is far more fun :-)
A list of my mods can be found here.

The nocaptcha was the most well implemented way to protect us from bots 'til now.
I do understand your opinion about google but there wasn't much choices for me.
But! this a temporally solution. The way to sign up will change in the future since LDAP is planned to give the people one accout for many services. When the software is ready, i think about an implementation of a simple, different captcha or invite-only.

By the way, not every site with cookies and/or javascript is bad and dangerous.

Your registration page still does not show me Radio-Buttons for Gender or Tick-Boxes for T&C.

You didn't allowed everything needed to load.
There is nothing to fix on the serverside.
Please write me a pm here or choose an alternate way to contact me here: https://tchncs.de .
Maybe we can try to add your account manually.

Note: the assets are not only coming from forum.illuna-minetest.tk, also they come from:

In case it helps anyone else, yes, Milan was right, and manually going into NoScript's preferences and adding assets.tchncs.de to the allowed list did seem to fix the issue, the unknown-character little rectangles were replaced by radio-buttons and tickboxes and I was able to proceed. :) Just a shame that assets.tchncs.de didn't appear among NoScript's usual drop-down menu's offered sites for quick setting.

Anyway, that little glitch can be considered [SOLVED] now. '' It's history. It's in dee past.''

HTH :)

Nice to hear, and just for clarify, illuna-minetest.tk and tchncs.de are basicly the same.
The minetestserver just got it's own name but i's basicly a tchncs.de project.

Is there a reason my client crashes every time I try to log in to Illuna to look around? This does not happen on any other server, public or private. Here's the debug:

Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
Code: Select all

As far as I know, a bad allocation error is usually an 'out of memory' issue - but why only with one server?

Hi there, yes you need "some more" memory on Illuna - this is mostly caused by our lovely background music.
I guess. Also we have a custom themepack.
How much exactly i never checked. And you are the first one with trouble (except the smartphone people).

Sad to hear that this is too much for your machine.
