This server has the same map that it did about 6 months ago, a lot of users have burned the forests out and industrialized the land, and much of the land is just...gone (unlike what the falsified map shows, which only shows 1500 blocks out). There is a new server with a lot more free, open land, and real grief-protection. Also, it has a lot of great mods like Mesecons and Moreblocks. The IP is ''menche.servegame.com'' and the port is #30001. You can ask for privileges here.

Indeed Menche server is great ,
Menche is smart and courageous to integrate High tech mod.
So you may prefer to establish your maze on his world.

But SegFault22 has made a little mistake with his information
. The server age is just above 2 months (exist since 18 april 2012) , It is difficult to have no tree since 6 months that fun :)
. The daily updated map show large forest... I didn't know there were some fire ... (fire mod is disabled since a long time now)
. North West of spawn location still exist large virgin area for large building.

In any case SegFault22 is right , you have the choice to menche server also minetest.ru server globis server .. there is a lot of nice servers ...
To see current running servers you may check

You'll make up your own mind, feel free to visit all these servers .. Every host deserve a visit ..

Really? It only took you 2 months to get that many players on here?
P.S. if you don't directly host your server, can you tell me where your server is hosted and how I can use that service/site to host one (and is it free)?

As discussed online I've changed a little bit your coordinates to protect wholly your Island

so Melkor's Island is defined by coordinates from (287,-30000,350) to (348,30000,390)

.. Island protected :)

Do not hesitate do go far from spawn location to find a nice place to build.
When you find a nice place, execute /sethome command to memorize your home location
So if you are far from home (mining or at spawn location or you get lost ...) type /home command to be back home

To be at spawn location without death , you may type /spawn to be teleported at spawn location.

After you start your building and explore your land of wishes.. you may request protection against griefer by adding a new post on this topic like :
"I would like to protect my land from coordinate (x,y,z) to (x,y,z)"
You can see your location by pressing F5

I guess you are an usual player of the "redcrab's server 0.3.1" I welcome you to this 0.4 version.

Download the latest nightly build (for Windows): http://minetest.net/packages/nightly/minetest-0.4.dev-20120606-c57e508-win32.zip

On Linux, you have to use the git version, then compile it yourself.

You need the the nightly build version(17/06/2012):

For Linux I recommend to scroll down and follow the instructions of the readme.txt: https://github.com/celeron55/minetest
