can someone tell me all the steps to join a server ?

First make sure you're running the same version as the server.
Fill in the address and port, which the server owner should have posted. The port is usually but not always the default of 30000.
Then pick any username and (optional but recommended) a password, and connect.

My favorite server is Redcrab's 0.4 server. Redcrab also has a 0.3 server.
