If you make the spawn point outside then when they die they get locked out.
If the game lasts too long then people will leave which causes and unfair advantage, so you should make a mod that makes the avatar (player) stays in game when they exit so they can be killed?
The names: in minetest you know that labels are displayed on the screen to show where the player is, you will proberly have to disable that, or disable when players are over 20 blocks away.

I don't think the second one is possible.
