i got my IP address, but i dont know how to get the port.

Minetest uses port 30000 by default.

ok so i can just use that and i have a server?

now it says connecting to server and the thing under the C thats moving it isnt doing anything alse

If you start a game from the "advanced" tab and without giving an address, yes. Other people on your network will be able to play. For people to connect over the Internet, you have to either forward your port out to the internet, or use a vpn. Port-forwarding is preferred as it doesn't require additional software, but can be trickier to set up.
