by 3dracer01 » Fri Oct 19, 2012 21:58

I was wondering if Minetest had PC to PC capabilities

ive ran other games between 2 pcs by a direct ethernet hookup

i tried to do this in minetest i got confused, frustrated said screw it

basicly my objective is to run a server with no internet so 1 person and myself can play

In minetest, connecting over internet or lan is the same, the only difference is that over the internet you have to redirect ports, and that kind of things.
I'll assume you use linux. The basic steps are these:
- Run minetestserver in a PC (use --world as needed)
- Run minetest in the same PC (optional)
- Connect, as multiplayer, to 127.0.0.1
- Run minetest in the other pc.
- Connect to the IP of the first computer.
:D

PS : to find the LAN IP of the Server Computer, Get on the Server Computer, Right Click the network icon, and Find the Information you need :P

Here: http://wiki.minetest.com/wiki/Setting_up_a_server#Windows
PS: Check you don't have the port blocked in the windows firewall, and that kind of things.

My image and media server is back online and is functioning as normal.

No. Only because he started with windows. If he would have started with Linux it would be better and easier for him.
