Hello guys!

I have decided, that I will be hosting a Minetest Quick Build Challenge, for both entertainment purposes and also to attempt to raise the profile of Minetest itself, which some of the players throughout the community have been pondering for a couple of weeks. VanessaE has kindly agreed to allow me to have an arena on her server, with some strict guidelines, of that whatever happens at the arena against the rules of the server must not be repeated elsewhere and to other player's constructions.

Overview:

• A player will decide to compete in the Challenge. (They must either tell me what build they want when asking to compete, or just before we start)
• I will video myself building my build, I will entertain the audience in the meantime. And then we will go over the builds at the end of the challenge.
• I will then render it to a HD format, including a sizzling intro title and then upload it to youtube.
• You will then vote accordingly to how I say in the video.
• I will then count the votes and record who wins, which will be announced at the start of the next video, and the scoreboard will be updated then and there.

Rules and Conditions:

• Each player must build inside their OWN arena.
• You are able to build in the air and go outside with your build, but not into the opponent's side.
• Each player must stay inside their own arena on the ground, but can build underground too.
• You are able to fly outside, but again, not into your opponent's side.

Update: This sample arena looks nothing like the final arena which has been built on VanessaE's server.

Yes, you can dig downward.. But you are not able to destroy the whole arena, even if you want the floor a different block type. and thanks for your interest. :)

I am interested, I am not a very good builder though

Ok.. I'll be posting any updates here, atm I am glad with the responses I have had. Also, what builds would you be interested in doing? Any suggestions?

I am still in need of a server, and I am trying to make one myself. It's not as simple as it first seemed, so If anyone can tell me in the simplest form, or if anyone can spare me a small area in their server, I would be very grateful and you could appear in some of the challenges and compete alongside me if wanted.

Anyone may enter, although if I witness someone griefing then it's a no to them.

You have, I perfectly remember you... you even had some protections used near spawn for some house.

I would love to participate. Skype: shiftycake. I might record, I've done a few videos before, mainly on FOG's. Maybe do a maze, mansion or skyscraper just a few ideas. =D

I'd probably make a nice house :-).

Hopefully I'll get a server for this weekend, not sure. And if I do, then one of you will be contesting in my first ever Quick build Challenge.

At the moment, everyone can compete. Although, I am not sure when it will be starting. The only thing you must do, is suggest a topic for the challenge you are competing in.

Could you have some underground arena's cause I would want to build an underground house.

Just edited the first post for further reference. As you can probably see, the answer is a yes.

Actev8, I have never griefed, that was a misunderstanding as I was accused, but I hit the block 4 days before I was accused

Update:

• Server found.. We will be using VanessaE's server for this event.
• If you're wishing to take part, please tell me, and also log onto VanessaE's Server and then ask for permissions in her forum post.
• Arena being made; People can come and help, as long as you can join the server easily.

I have this idea, that each challenge there would be a twist, so one could be 5 mins longer, and so on.

• Do you like this idea?
• If so, I'll need Twist ideas too.

As a follow up to Obiewan's posts, I'm happy to host this on my server, with the understanding that griefing in any form is strictly forbidden outside of the areas Obiewan has designated for this event. I leave it up to him to decide upon the rules used within his areas.

Whenever you are available. I will be doing one soon, maybe tomorrow. We'll have to agree to different times, and have to consider time zones.

The one thing, which is needed for you to compete, is a challenge idea (What you want to build).
