I have a netbook....

by Chinchow » Thu Jan 03, 2013 18:30

OK so I know netbooks are not recommended for server running but I hear I can make one using some sort of online thing so my questions are
1. What is a good place to host a server
2. Does it cost anything?
Sometimes, it's harder to think up a mod than it is to create it.

Searched up Amazon free cloud service and got AWS free usage tier and you can run two machines for a year.

You can get a VPS for under $10 per month.

Right now I'm using BurstNet (http://www.burst.net), I've had a few issues with them, but it's not bad for the price.
I'm thinking about trying RackFlux (http://www.rackflux.com), budget VPS starting at $4.50 / month

Just to throw a plug in, I use RocketVPS (http://www.rocketvps.com) for hosting web applications and they are rock solid, unfortunately they explicitly state you cannot run game servers in their Acceptable Use Policy.
