FOSS gamedev and creative worlds

For awhile now, I've needed a server to test ServerExtended with. However,
As it stands now, I hardly make enough money as it is, and I know I can't afford a VPS. My internet connection is too slow to run a half-decent server, not that I have anything to run it on at home.

I'm getting to a point where I really need to start testing SE with other players, I can't really do all thats needed by myself.

Does anyone have any ideas? Anyone happen to have a unused server sitting around?

I tried chunkhost and host1free, but they seem pretty full, and I have my doubts about free services.

Any help or ideas appreciated.
(Yes, I know I need a new job, and shouldn'tve bought such a big house.)

Traxie a guy that is getting a vps offered to host a server for me maybe he would add that in once he gets it.

Maybe you should refer to your mod as SE cause they way you said I am thinking you are having way too much "fun" with other players online.

Anyway, I could install some of it on my server. The homes module, warps module, /spawn, and /suicide either clash with / are redundant with some of the other mods I have installed.

Omg.. I really should proofread more... So thats why I call it 'se' in the code, I'd forgotten about that. XD

The homes module can be removed, I'm pretty sure it works fine.
Warps is almost the same as homes, except that it has a GUI in the unstable version. Suicide... hmm... Player_extras needs testing.. mabye you could rename the command? /kill_s or something.

I have a random 4 year old laptop that has decent specs (enough to run a Minetest server), however my connection is slow (especially upload-wise) so I'd have to tweak the network settings down then I could host like 4-5 players at once (plus me).

It's quiet and doesn't use much power (unlike my desktop :P) so I could keep it on 24/7.

Hmm.. That also sounds good. Mabye you could put it up for a test sometime? Just to see if it's capable.

Or, you could just come on IRC when needed, ask me then I could start a server. Probably a better idea since it requires less management.

Good idea. If Jeija's url-httlp request pull-request would be added to the main game, I could even make SE auto-update, minimizing extra work.
