Also any tips when starting a server?

Of course you can, just start a server with the map.

First, open a command window. Type ipconfig. Find the computer's internal ip and type that in the address bar. Log in. Go to the applications and gaming tab. Then, go to the subtab Port Range forwarding. Type in the port you want ex. 30000-30000 and type the last digits of ipv4 in the to ip adress section. The application name would be Minetest

One thing to watch out for is that if you've created any locked doors or locked chests (or anything else that pertains to a specific player) in the singleplayer mode, then when running the game as a server those items will belong to "Singleplayer", so your new character won't be able to use them.

You can see the thread I started for a solution to get around that issue.
