[Server] VanessaE's Survival Server [git/dev]

I'm not using any texture pack. I'll try disabling "preload_item_visuals" since it's a survival server. For some reason on my computer if I'm in creative mode and "preload_item_visuals" is turned off the game crashes when I open any inventory. I brought attention to this but nobody could reproduce the bug so I shrugged it off as being my laptop's fault. RAM was definitely the problem. I logged in and watched my task manager. Every second my free ram dropped by two megabytes seconds until it hit 12 and then the error occurred. I'll keep you posted after some testing. Thank you for the speedy reply :).

Well after turning off "preload_item_visuals" I was able to open inventories without the game crashing but my free memory was still declining fast. It was bound to crash eventually at the rate it was dropping. Now I'm pretty sure it's because of one of these issues: #1880 or #1858 or #1846 lol.

All these seem to relate to memory use. I should test another server and see if free memory declines there too. I'm also going to disable "preload_item_visuals" offline and see if I still get the error I was having before because load time is practically cut in half.

I just tried logging into your vanilla server with "preload_item_visuals" disabled and as soon as it loaded completely it crashed. So the only reason it worked on this server is because I had nothing in my inventory. I wish this setting worked for me :(.

With it enabled the game works fine but load time is significantly longer. I read one other person was having this problem but nobody could recreate the crash. Very odd. Here is someone else with the same problem: Here and the topic I opened: Here. Sorry if this is a bit off topic.

The memory leak seems to be fixed. Now I can play for a little while. It's obvious now that my computer can't handle the awesomeness of your server :). I'll stick with your vanilla server.

There are some mummies to be found in some of the pyramids but that's all.

Ok, skins dealt with for you and CreeperFemale. They'll be available after the next restart. You'll show up as colored shapes until then.

Looks like you already have interact; I've granted it for CF also.

And yeah, I know there are few mobs, that'll be dealt with at tonight's restart also.

Hi

Need an admin to help with the following:-

Would like protection on the following block section:-
Point 1 - 25,-98,-1045
Point 2 - 58,-114,-1112

Can't protect myself due to size limitation cause of shape.
Can be accessed via QuarryLobby through Travelnet from exchange.
Happens to be the Nuclear reactors supplying a large portion of server HV Power.

Edit : I have Lemmings in by my quarry zone, not rats btw ;), rats don't jump off 100 block high walls, lol!!! can't catch them though :(

It seems you can only catch rats while wielding some non-tool item. For example, trying with a pick or shovel in hand doesn't work, but with the hand or some random block like cobble, it works great.

Why are the old mobs:rat entities still spawning? Something went wonky when renaming the mod to carbone_mobs perhaps?

Update: I've moved the server's regular restart time to 0800 UTC, 3:00am EST, as the server's quiet times have shifted again. This change affects all of my Minetest server instances.

So Quarries don't seem to be working, apparently disabled due to lag? Is this temporary? They've never caused lag before.

Temporarily disabled because they're a little on the slow side, but mostly they're triggering painfully slow code in pipeworks. That's being worked on now.
