Menche's Public minetest-classic:next Server (now have win32 build)

PostPosted: Sun Oct 13, 2013 03:17
by Menche
Information
This is a public freebuild server running the minetest-classic "next" branch. You will not be able to connect with a 0.4 client, as minetest-classic is based off of minetest 0.3. I recommend you build the minetest-classic:next client using the source from here. I have made a Windows 32-bit build; I plan on also making Linux 32- and 64-bit builds.

Minetest-classic has many features not in 0.3; see here.
Client: http://menche.us/files/minetest-classic/minetest-classic-1401.01%3anext-win32.zip

Address: menche.us
Port: 30000

Privs: build, shout, teleport
There is no "fly" privilege in this version; anyone can fly.

Great server! Also, can I use this skin? Image

-classic is not yet transferring skins to the server, or from the server to clients. If you want to be seen with a specific skin all you can do is post it, and let others download it and put it in data/textures/players/player_<username>.png

also, if you save your skin in data/textures/player.png you'll see it show up on your arm in-game, this is also the texture that will eventually be transferred to the server and other clients... when I get that working.

Here is a Windows 32-bit build of the version of minetest-classic used on this server. I plan on making Linux 32- and 64-bit builds later.

If you've tried my windows build and experienced a crash, please re-download and try again (same link). I just rebuilt it slightly differently. It seems to run fine on Windows 7 now.

I would like it if you would make a linux 32 bit build for me, these unknown blocks are very annoying.

Yes, that would be useful. I keep trying to compile this on Fedora, but CMake keeps telling me I have stuff missing (and that gcc is broken).

Done. Made a 32-bit GNU/Linux build. Should work on any computer. I encourage you to download Gambit's MineToon (it makes everything WAY prettier :] ). Go to http://danstuff.tk to download it. 19.3 MB size, so you might have trouble if on dial-up.

EDIT: Oh, yeah. I included all the shared object files, but if you have dependency problems, use ldd -d on the executable and you should have a list of the dependencies you need. Have a nice day! :)

EDIT: Attached the a zip with the binary in it.

Just saying Menche, but there was some vandalism in the public chest building.

So I built the NEXT branch.
Enjoy!

(danstuff.tk) if you need the libraries included (and then do an export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=./lib and might work).

Updated to the latest minetest-classic:next version. Check the first post for the updated win32 build.

Player "noah" has had all privs revoked. Reason: stealing and writing profanity to signs.

Yes, just rename it to player.png and put in your textures folder.
Darkrose didn't make the server download per-player skins yet, so for now you'll have to make do seeing everyone as a generic guy or with downloading your friends' skins.

Where?

Skins go in data/textures/players/player_username.png, where 'username' is the player the skin is for.

Privs revoked from benio12 and beneo12 for a few days. Reason: digging in and taking over other's structures.

Just because it's not protected does not make it fair game!

There are quite a few structures that are not protected. To prevent griefing, please craft a protector block (8 smooth stone (smelted cobble) around 1 mese) and place it in your property. It protects everything, including liquids, within a radius of 5. Mese is very plentiful deep underground (below -300 or so).

I built Minetest-Classic with MSVC - this means the TORCH on FLOOR BUG IS FIXED! (WOOT!) and you get access to Direct3D8/9!

Download: http://sfan5.duckdns.org/upload/userdata/3/minetest-classic-1311.00-msvc.zip
(The built is 32bit, as I don't use 64bit, I might try to build this at school - when I'm back there.)

New build. Not sure if I statically linked it or not, so feel free to try and use the included dynamically-loaded ELF libraries.

EDIT: Hey, a wild attachment appeared! mt-classic-bin.zip, Lv. ???, 7.1MB

Client and server updated to latest. Some new features: lava cooling, animated arm while digging, furniture, snow and ice.

Another update. Same link for the updated win32 client, see first post.

Adds crowbars that rotate nodes (instead of screwdrivers. really, 0.4?), incinerators to destroy trash, and fences and walls can no longer be jumped over. Under the hood there was also a revamp of crafting.
