how to protect server

i want to run a server with protection of griefers. it should be vanilla (or look as vanilla for end-user). it should be easy to start playing. please write all ways to do it

In the future, please search the forums before posting questions like this - there are a number of mods that will do the job, including areas, node_ownership, protector, and more.

I found one way to do it - use default_password; enable_pvp = false; enable_rollback_recording = true;
using default password can make starting playing a bit more difficult; but it's a good protection.
rollback is a good thing too.
this topic can be interesting not only for me, so you can write other ways.

What I did for a while was set the default_password to something really long and random. When a new user asked to join, I would simply set the password for their requested username to something shorter and email it to them. The default password was never actually entered; it was just to prevent users from creating new accounts on their own.
Rollback works quite well, but when the logfile gets too big the server will freeze while it is being used. I recommend that once a week, you search for and repair all the rollback-able damage you can find then backup and delete the logfile.
