1: Connecting to the server

Join setun.net:30004 with a client.

The client can be a Minetest one.

2: Joining a team

Type one of the following:

  • /join one
  • /join two

To join a team, and start the game.

3: Playing around

Capturing a flag

Click a flag that is owned by an enemy team.

Making turrets

So, I started writing ideas, and it became a list. Here's what I think it could use.

1. I think there should be flags placed a considerable distance apart. It would also be nice if there is a "spawn" area where you come in, and then when you join a team, you go to your team's base.

2. I noticed the firearms mod was installed. You may want to disable the overly destructive weapons if you haven't already.

3. I noticed team one had a considearable number more than team two. It may be a good idea to close joining a certain team if it has a certain amount more than the next team (2 seems like a good number). It would create more balanced teams.

4. Another idea is the "player radar" mod. I'm not sure how well it would work, but something like that could be extremely useful. Especially for allowing you to find your base. In fact, it may just work to have it be a player radar centered only on your base.

5. At one point it said "you cannot build on team 1's land" well, that's fine... except I lost my torches I was trying to place. And I couldn't see whether the land was protected or not.

6. Craft guides. This is something that I think could be included in the client code. Craft guides allow you to know how to craft something without scouring the forums trying to find the thread it was originally posted in. Unified inventory could work (if used may want to disable setting home... or allow it only at your base (oh look, possible solution for teleporting into your base).

7. I like the idea of teams being able to be created. Once you have a flag recipe, It should allow new teams, but with limitations, such as you can only create one team. and make the flags hard to craft. otherwise I can already see spam teams (eg. team poop, team poo, team po, team pooo, etc.). Oh, and possibly allow for team switching (probably want to limit that to once every 24 hours max)


Well, I think that's it for now. If my current pattern of thought continues, I may have another hundred suggestions by tomorrow. Hope my input helps.

edit: 8. team uniforms. I would like to be able to tell at a glance whether someone is on my team or not. you could probably modify Zeg9's skins mod to have different skins automatically given for no team, team one, etc. Probably would want it to be similar to the flag color

1, 4, 6 - The server is just testing the vanilla Capture the Flag game for bugs. When I make a real server, it will include more mods, and have a spawn area.

2 - That is a good point, but it is more the server operator's choice. I will delete by default.

3 - I will be adding automatic team assignment, so players are automaticaly

5 - I will be fixing the protection mod to stop this. Fairly crucial.

6 (teleporting) - there is a flag tab in /team, with buttons to teleport.

7 - This is a good game play feature. I am currently thinking how I can structure the teams to stop new players joining a team, and then griefing immediately.

one: Per flag protection (only certain players can edit around a certain flag)

two: some sort of privilege system.

I may add more flags as protection extensions, capital flags, town flags, etc.

8 - great idea.

The privilege system sounds lke a good idea to limit team production. you could make it so people have to ask on the thread to get the priv.

also, as far as automatic team assignment is concerned, I think it would be better if people made the choice. Also, it would be useful if the team captain (the creator of the team) and those they designate (lieutenants?) could kick griefing players from their team. it's a possible solution to that problem.

and I'm glad my input was useful. thanks for the consideration.
