How can I craft the green signs ?
The crafting guide shows 3 dyes and 3 Unknown Items. What are these things ?

I've made a new shop in this world, called South Uplands Common Market.
Coordinates : 300 ; 28 ; -220 (= 220 South ; 300 East)
Image
You can be both customer and seller.
If you aren't flying, take the East Street, turn right to Holland Street at Little Amsterdam, and follow the road. After Holland Street it's Canyons Road. It may be quite long.

Or you can join it by the ring road (see the map). I've made an interchange.

I've build it because we all have more and more MineGeld and if there aren't ways to use it, it hasn't interest.
I've already sold some things to initiate the market, but the principle is that all people can sell and buy items.
To sell something, simply put a shop chest (see the crafting guide) anywhere in the building (
I still recommend to respect the themes of each room).

You can completely manage your sales without me.

If the craft guide shows unknown items, it's because it's only looking at one of the available recipes. You can make them from three steel ingots + the green and white dyes. The same patterns work for the other colors also (just switch dye colors). See here for more:

http://digitalaudioconcepts.com/vanessa/hobbies/minetest/homedecor-crafting-guide/homedecor-craft-guide.html#signs

The unknown items are probably sheet metal from my fork of Zeg9's steel mod, and are an alternate recipe usable on servers which have that.

If you update to the new version of snowdrift you may need to reduce the snowfall/rainfall heaviness parameters for the sake of players with slower computers. For the heaviness of the previous version use DROPS = 16 and FLAKES = 1. In the previous commit 6e5 i reduced the area around a player within which snowflakes spawn, this makes snowfall seem heavier without increasing number of particles or a client's processing load. With current particles i doubt rainfall can ever be satisfyingly heavy.

Actually if that makes the snowfall seem heavier, then I'll keep the current settings when I update - I like heavier-looking snowfall anyway.

I've made numerous ways, in cobblestone and in desert cobblestone, but desert cobblestone don't appear on the map, so several ways are nearly invisible.
Is it possible to solve this problem ?

Yeah that's no worry, I just needed to add a color entry for that node to my configuration for the mapper. Should take effect at the next map update. Overview maps are generated weekly; the next one is Tuesday, but I can schedule a map update to run sooner if you want.

Take your time, I don't really need this map, it was just an observation.
When I evoke desert cobblestone, it is not only default:desert_cobble, but also stairs:stair_desert_cobble and stairs:slab_desert_cobble.

How do I warp to a specific location? AND where can I get some starter tools...or just some wood at least...

There is no teleporting feature added to this server - I tried to keep it fairly vanilla so as not to make it too heavy.

As for wood, just catch me or one of the server admins online next time you sign on and ask for it (you have to be online in order for one of us to give it).

Could you break the fence at -175 ; 19 ; -194 ? I'm making an interchange to connect the Ring Road to the South Highway.

Could I have this skin ?

Broke the fence, but I can't install a skin for you because you have dashes in your username. Some obscure bug in Windows builds gets in the way of texture filenames with dashes, causes players to get stuck trying to login.

It's a pity ! I spent time on it. Is this bug already reported and where does it come from ?
Is it possible to change player's name without losing any data ?

Very busy this year too, so do not expect me to be very active on the forum or in game. But I'm not about to drop Minetest forever :)

I've found this bug at https://github.com/minetest/minetest/issues/1125. It has been fixed on February 2nd. I suppose the Minetest version from it you run the server is outdated. Is it possible to update it ?

The bug is in the clients, not the server. If I use that feature, old clients get stuck.

People should know better than to use old clients when they can get newer ones, unless their computers choke on the newer ones.

The problem is iOS clients and folks who use Kindles. Many of them are still stuck at 0.4.8 or thereabouts, or they otherwise can't seem to figure out how to update their clients, because of Buildcraft and its relatives.

That said, I'm eventually gonna give up on these older clients, but not just yet.

I've found something strange about glass : we can see through the ground. It wasn't the case a few days ago. I think you've updated minetest_game with the new glass drawtype. On github, amaz1 says that the bug is probably from the server.

Indeed, I did. I just pulled last night as part of some routine updates, but just to avoid the glass becoming a big problem, I've rolled the serves' copies of minetest_game back to the pre-fancy-glass previous state. The change will take effect at the morning restart.

My Minetest crashes at least 6 times, on this server, around 12 pm (French time). It crashed immediately or 1-2 minutes after. I had the latest dev version. I've removed it and installed 0.4.10-stable and it works.

Is it a problem on the server or on the version I used ? I've played yesterday with the dev version and no problem. There was an update this morning.

I'm on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and I've intalled Minetest from the PPAs.

I've not seen any error message in the debug.txt.

Gael de Sailly, I also had that happen to me on other servers. I think that the commit tonight fixed it though...

It was most likely that commit you were on, Gael - I had the same problem, but it's fixed now with RBA's latest commit that went in today.

Notice to all users of my servers: I have changed the morning restart time to 1:30 am to better coincide with the slowest period my servers seem to experience lately. This change affects all of my servers.

So 7:30 in France in winter time (lastest Sunday of October [today] to lastest Sunday of March) and 8:30 in summer time ; if there are others European players (except Portugal and British Isles).

For those who haven't noticed, the spawn point on this server has been moved. It now sits about 2 km from its former location, near the end of West St. The old building has been torn down, a new spawn building has been erected at the new location, and already some new structures have been built nearby.

In the process, the server's rules have been simplified.

Happy building!
