I am new to the game and have been enjoying it thus far, though I am a newbee. So I really want to join a survival server that is not so crowded yet. I like venessae's survival surver but it just seems way to "built up" if you know what I mean. I want to join a server that does not have a ton of buildings yet and survival is harder. Any suggestions?

"built up"? There are hardly any buildings if you walk away from spawn a bit! We can't open a new map for each building. But we may place a travelnet box for you that leads into wilderness.

If what you're after is hardcore survival, try Brandons Adventuretest server.

Brandons servers are down so those are not useable, i would try VanessaE's Survival (has quite alot of builds tho),
Megafs Server 4.0 ( has quite a few builds but a very nice server), Minerealms, Krocks Ultimate Platform, or CraigyDav Survival.
