As discussed over IRC, the aforementioned bug is some kind of obscure collision handling glitch in the engine, not in the mod.

Small update: Dishwashers can now be combined with wood, marble, granite, or steel in certain ways, to get versions with a flat top surface that fit in with the various kitchen counters.

I can't use this mod because or an error that says it can't load the 3d extras. Any suggestions?

You're probably getting an error relating to the minetest.override_item() function. Please update to Minetest 0.4.10.

You could also disable that particular component of the modpack by just deleting the homedecor_3d_extras folder, but you'll lose a couple of features then.

I've moved the "openframe" bookshelf over to the main homedecor mod so that at least IT won't be lost if people decide they don't want (or can't use) the aforementioned "3d extras" component.

Also, another update today - some recipe changes to the speakers and alarm clock: they now use an intermediate speaker driver so that their recipes make more sense. Those are crafted from steel ingots, copper wire, paper, and iron lumps. See the Craft Guide for details.

Small update: signs_lib now puts a nice space theme image behind the formspec instead of that boring grey background. Also, if technic is installed, homedecor will defer to it for making brass ingots (from zinc and copper, via an alloy furnace). If it is not installed, the usual silver+copper recipe will still work.

EDIT: Also, minor recipe changes to the 3dforniture steel bars to resolve a recipe conflict with Zeg9's steel mod. They make use of wrought iron poles (not fences) and steel ingots now. Also lowered the yield - they were way too cheap.

I think signs could use a bigger text area (the wiki mod proves that such things can be adjusted.) How about one that can hold as many characters as one of them?

I changed a bit of the interface, hope you like it:

Commit here.

EDIT:

Please note (this is from the commit message):
kaeza wrote:This also removes the pipe as line separator, and uses real newlines instead.

To be compatible with older signs, those older signs are *NOT* updated, and still use the old line handling code. In order to take advantage of the new UI, old signs will have to be replaced. This is an unfortunate drawback that cannot be fixed.

Newly-placed signs will have the new features right away.

Looks like a conversion code is needed. Concerning the old signs, will they still display?

Yes, Kaeza, that is a big improvement to the sign formspec.

Indeed, all existing signs will still work fine. This interface affects newly-placed signs. This is a limitation of the engine.

I noticed that the new formspec can hold far more letters than the signs can. Word wrapping when the end of a sign's line is reached would be helpful.

It's not really possible to make the formspec hold exactly the same amount of text that the sign does, as it uses a different font than the actual sign, which we can't change.

Small updates: Merged Jordach's oscillating desk fan into this mod (thanks!), and made a small change to the air conditioner recipe. Also added a space heater. All three use a "fan blades" object which is crafted from plastic sheets and a steel ingot. See the Wikia for recipes.

Updates: I've imported kaeza's computers mod, thefamilygrog's lrfurn mod, bas080's inbox mod, and qwrwed's plasmascreen mod into this modpack. See the Wikia article for recipes. Enjoy!

Because the recipe in the original mod is outdated. :-)

I didn't think to check that one in current minetest_game. Fixed in git.

In the tables.lua file, the on-place function for the table tops allows them to get passed protection mods (minetest 0.4.10 dev)...

Oops! So it does. Old code leftover from before Minetest had that feature built-in. Fixed in git. https://github.com/VanessaE/homedecor_m ... 14d5d3bb9e

I've removed the beds mod from this modpack. It does not work well at all on multiplayer servers. I'll just code in some sort of basic beds nodes later instead.

There's already a lavalamp mod, though it needs better animations.

By popular request, fake fire has been imported into this mod (using jp's version of LazyJ's fork, specifically). Also today I've added candles, oil lamps, and several more colors of bathroom/kitchen floor tiles and craft recipes for all of them.

Also, added wooden lattice style lamps partially borrowed from RHR's lanterns mod.

I think I found a bug with some of the crafting, you can make a locked filing cabinet, but not the standard one (and it is required for the locked version), plus there are some other things that don't show up like the wall switches and outlets.

This isn't a bug, it's just a lack of recipes for those things. I haven't gotten around to adding recipes yet.
