Connect it to HV power, it needs at least 10,000EU to run. Attach some form of tube to the top. Normal tube, sort tube, teleport tube, whatever suits you. Personally I use teleport tubes that send the output to a sorting/processing/storage system. Set the digging radius, between 2 and 8 and enable it. The quarry digs a square hole starting at 3 nodes above itself and ending 100 nodes below itself. The diameter is (2 x radius) + 1, i.e. a radius of 8 will dig a 17x17 hole.

...adding to the previous post:
If you can afford to, place a quarry on every side of the whole, so all 4 of them dig the same shaft at the same time. Just set the same radius for all of them, and it'll work a lot faster :)

Is there a way to disassemble a component for raw materials. Example i made a few to many LV transformers and i thought that the Transformers where the same for MV but there not. So is there a way to disassemble the transformer to get some materials back. Example the coils, wire and iron. to use in the MV and HV transformers.

How much Uranium do i need to make fuel rods. i have 82 dust as .7% fissile and 88 lumps of it.
Also i have figured out the TBM (Tunnel Boing Machine) wonderful machine.
So im going to be setting up a MV powered units and was going to start on working on the reactor, so any ideas where to begin.
I have collect many ingots as seen below in the picture, and was wondering what the best way to go about it was.
Also i have alot of Radium and the only thing i can see to use it for was a Nuke and Furnace.
Also Sulfur i have a coupe Sulfur Dust.

Uranium must be "enriched" to get them up to 3.5% dusts. From there they are smelted into ingots , and those ingots are compressed into fuel rods.

See the manual : https://github.com/minetest-technic/tec ... /manual.md under uranium enrichment.

Basically you must build a ridiculous elaborate enrichment plant with 34 centrifuges linked together with sorting tubes to get them from 0.7 to 3.5

See this post from ThatGraemeguy that explains it in detail viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2538&p=151483&hilit=uranium#p151483

Is there a way for the furnace to auto shutdown when demand is not there.
If you put fuel in the furnace it burns all the fuel whether it needs to or not, and if its an on demand setup would be nice.
I have upgraded to the MV furnace and i know i can hook up tubes to it, but not sure if that will pull the fuel when needed.
also there are upgrade slots for the furnace, and i was wondering what upgrades does it have.

you could try using a mesecons node detector and a piston moving en/disabling the cable connection
try the logic control unit and a battery for the upgrade slot

MV furnaces don't use fuel. It uses power. And it automatically stops working when there are no items in it anymore to smelt and automatically stops using power.

The upgrade slots are for 1. Batteries. This causes it to use less power on the network.
2. Control logic unit. This gives it the ability to automatically eject items that has been smelted to tubes. No injectors needed.

So for example , a MV furnace that must eject to tubes will have 1 control logic unit in 1 slot to make that possible and 1 battery in the other slot so that it uses less power.

Now im wondering about fuel-fired generators.
Do they auto-shutoff, when there isnt a demand.

"Keeping a fuel-fired generator fully fuelled is usually wasteful, because it will burn fuel as long as it has any, even if there is no demand for the electrical power that it generates."

Well i made up some HV solar Arrays and a HV Generator producing 10800 EU.
I hooked up a Convertor to the HV network and routed to a MV network.
I am not getting a readout on the Convertor or the MV swich or battery.
Below are some pictures.
Also a question from before what is the constructor for.

I figured the Convertor out. I had the output from the HV battery coming from the top and it needs to come from the bottom of the battery.

The constructor has inventory slots, and whatever you place in there is placed when the machine receives a mesecons signal.

maybe you could also add an additional switching station

I have another question.
With the MV grinder and other machines, you can use a control logic to use tubes.
I had a grinder right next to a furnace so it ground the lumps sent it to the furnace without a tube. Then the furnace sends it back to the grinder.
How do i keep it from coming back to the grinder.
One-way tube. Space in between the 2.

How do you add a craft recipe to a item in technic.
Im thinking of creating one to grind the coils of wire (silver, copper, gold) to reclaim dust to make new ingots if you made to many coils.
So you take 1 coil and grind it you gut 2-3 dust of that material then smelt it back to ingots.

you could also directly smelt fine wires back to their origin

l think by default it doesn't work, but usual furnace cook recipes could make it work.

I wouldn't change the code in the technic mod, if anything make your own mod where you can define your own custom recipes. That way updating the technic mod isn't going to tamper with your customisations.

Ill give it a try.
Would i need the textures for it, or would i just be able to right a .lua file with the recipe.

You need textures if you define new nodes/items. If you are only defining new crafts to manipulate existing nodes/items then you don't need textures.

I think this is what it should look like below.

Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
Code: Select all
minetest.register_craft({
                        type="cook"
         output = default:copper_ingot.." 3",
         recipe = {{technic:fine_copper_wire 2}},
      })
