These look fairly good, but you can make them a lot better by making them mesh nodes, and unwrapping the "bars" to be aligned with the wood grain texture. Maybe a next revision?

Are these easy to place? They look very thin.

you could also use connected nodeboxes

Connected nodeboxes would limit creativity of the player.

That's a nonsense argument. And there's no need for it:

In this particular mods' design, connected nodeboxes won't work. Connected nodeboxes are good for cases when nodes are wire-like or fence-like like with some sort of central connection point. Since these nodes have a flat base that's the entire nodes' bottom, it would be really hard to make the shapes that I can see from the images. These nodes also build upon the idea that the horizontal center isn't where the connections happen, making it even harder.

So, you can't really make these shapes with connected nodeboxes.

Now, had you designed these from the start with connected nodeboxes in mind, then you could have probably made it work with connected nodeboxes, but they would have looked differently. I'm perfectly OK with how these nodes look right now without them being connected nodeboxes, though. Just don't say mean things about stuff other people make.

You caught me. I'm learning as I go and did not know I could not connect them.
Maybe if minetest had a 3D raillike drawtype then it could be done with ease.

That would be nice. We don't even have stairs that do corners well... ouch ;)
