Awesome for adding support for my mod! You should make pickles for the cucumber update in my mod. Also, on the first post you forgot to add my mod in the "supports (but does not require)" section.

The foods in this mod and the more_foods mod can make for some great decorations. It should be made possible to place the foods in the world just like apples can be.

Most of the textures in this mod are dumby textures, and where never meant to be kept for a long time.

I will be replacing each item with a nodebox and a new inventory image.

Are there craft recipes? 1st post says "coming soon", but I'm not sure wheter it's up-to-date... I'd like to use the mod in my singleplayer world ;)

Food version 2.0 alpha



I have released a version of 2.0
It is almost a complete rewrite.
It is not in a mod-pack like structure.

Features
  • Multiple support for mods at the same time - ie: the carrot in farming_plus and carrot in docfarming can be used at same time
  • Renovated textures
  • Cleaner in code and content

  • Drinks, Soup and finishing of content

I need people to test the new version of the food mod before I release it.

Tell me what mods you have that are in depends.txt, and how well the recipes are working. Comment about the graphics, recipe content, and food content.

With the use of food.support and food.asupport, are your foods supposed to overwrite the foods of other mods? Or are the others supposed to overwrite yours?

EDIT: Never mind what I said, because I looked at some of the old code on GitHub and the comments cleared things up for me.

If no ingredients registered by food.support are found, then food.asupport is run.

a means assert or add, I think. I cant remember.

(rubenfood is the name of the mod in init.lua)

Is this one meant to replace it?

For some reason it hangs at the beginning of "Item Definitions..." for some time before moving on to "Media...", and the game is quite a bit laggy afterward. Disabling this mod seems to fix it. I dunno whether it's a conflict, or what.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I also have mobf and farming_plus, and am on version 0.4.7 stable.

It uses a fairly complicated registering mechanism, which may take a while to load on older computers.

I will try to optimize it.

Can I comment out all the stuff that's for mods I don't have to make it faster?

EDIT: Looking at the code, I don't really understand why it's so slow to load. It looks simple enough to me. My computer's not really old, it's got 4 2.0 gigahertz dual core CPUs, and 12 gigabytes of RAM.

It should be fine with your specs.

The loading mechanism looks for a mod, and if it exists, it edits its ingredients to have a group in them, ie: group:food_milk

Try setting debug = false in the init.lua file (as it should be when it is released)

I tried this mod and I like the extra content it added but the crafting recipes are crazy. There are a LOT of alternate recipes for everything it adds and the recipes don't make any sense. Example: cocoa is made from ivory tusks and just about two of anything else.

Or if you have farming plus, you can use that.

A craft recipe document is on the way.

The recipes are quite simple. If you have a mod that adds an ingredient, use that ingredient. If not, use the default inbuilt version.

For example with chicken soup, you can either get the meat from simplemobs, mobf or jkanimals. If you have none of those installed, use the inbuilt version crafted like this:

apple
dirt

and then cooked.

No idea where you got the ivory tusks from.

Perhaps you ought to add a replicator for those that don't have any real food sources installed. You could add apples/plants/leaves/wood or whatever is available and let the machine turn it into the desired food. Would also save people from having to remember strange receipes.

I am not sure what you mean. The mod already has default items if no food sources are available.

Instead of crafting the food with all those receipes, I want to place protein sources into a machine, select the desired food item, and get it out of the machine. In Star Trek, those are called replicators. Machines that create food from other food by i.e. adding aroma and giving the mixture a certain shape might be a bit more realistic.

Looks like a bug in the system. Strange that cook tomatoes do that, as i have never heard of them. Same with egg.

Are you sure they are what.you think they are? Sometimes the inventory images get mixed up.
