[Mod] Giant Mushroom/ Mushrooms [riesenpilz]

This mod adds mushrooms of various sizes to minetest.
You can make them giant using the growing tool.

Depends: default and vector_extras
License: WTFPL

Can you do anything with it? Maybe there could be a fertilizer mod made out of rotten papyrus?

It is good to see that you are still with us. The mushrooms are a wonderful addition to this game and can add variety to maps. Is it possible to create mushroom areas not only above ground but below ground as well? A different coloration variety of mushrooms could exist in underground caverns and emit faint light.

Will mushrooms drop nodes and saplings like trees do in the future? Also, will some of the small mushrooms of the swamp mod appear among the bigger ones?

Is this mod still being worked on? I don't think mushrooms are able to spawn on their own.

If you wish to make mushroom biomes, I found a topic that might help you out. The link to it is below.

Here are my ideas for this mod again. They should sound rather interesting.

What is that poll in this topic for? It doesn't make sense.

I can't be sure if that's the latest, though - I downloaded it about 2-3 month ago.
If you want, I may put that on github, since the license is WTFPL.

I like the look of the mushrooms but I would like to control where they spawn. Could the code be modified to define spawn conditions. What I'd like to do is only have them spawn underground. I'm not sure how this would be accomplished but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

Those models are very well done, Hybrid Dog. There can be a bright future for your mushroom biomes. The lavashrooms and glowshrooms have the potential to beautify caves all the way to the bottom of the world.

I like the smaller mushrooms but I'm not seeing any generate with mapgen turned-on. Does your code generate the smaller versions automatically or do they only come from giveme?

I haven't finished mapgen yet.
There's at the moment only big mushroom stuff and the ground.
I can work on my mods 1 hour a day.


I understand. For the moment, I'll hold-off using the mapgen function. I do have a question, though, how can I modify the amount of Mushroom "grass?" blocks that get generated? I don't really care for the look of it so I'd like to make it less common (love the mushrooms, though).

Mushroom biomes could be rather common, but smallish as well as underground (the glowshrooms and lavashrooms are ideal for caves.)

Lava shrooms could spawn around lava lakes, or even above lava. Glowshrooms would be great in dark caves, though quite rare.
I made a few (a lot of?) mods for minetest: here is a list.
See also the MT-Faithful texture pack (work in progress).
