Works fine for me, although if your using the latest 0.4 version then it won't work as this mod hasn't been updated to work with it yet

Ah ok I haven't tested any mods in the latest version yet so wasn't too sure.

While I'm here was it intended that pistons pushed from the opposite side they are powered from? because its a pain in the arse to get them to push up (I was trying to make a piston lift ¬_¬) I also tried with movestones but...then don't go up or down well at least how I was trying anyway.

It would be nice to see:
# Pistons changed to only push in one direction no matter how they are powered, Direction would be determined by how they where placed basically how they work in MC (well at least if there isn't a reason for the current way it works)
# Movestones to be able to go vertically as well as horizontally.

# 1 Would be fairly easy and will be implemented as soon as possible (maybe tomorrow (?))
# 2 Is not thaaat easy; this would mean that i need special movestones for this like up-movestones and down-movestones...

I like the idea of having vertical movestones would be able to make proper elevators then ^_^ oh actually...movestones only move one way don't they? hmmm ok maybe just leave them then, at least with the piston change will allow people to make piston lifts ^_^

I updated the mod to work with version 22.01.2012; I just HATE git and have no idea how to get it working, the upload and so on...
I think I'll better remove the git repo and use the forum again. It takes me 50% of my time just to upload the whole stuff to github :(. When I learned to deal with github I'll use it again.

What do you do to this poor git? It's only 1 command to commit there from your local repository.
But if you can't handle it, we'll have to download files from the uploaders :) Good luck.

I just always get errors for the simplest things... git rm, git commit and so on. I'll try gitorious.

Gitorious uses Git too

I know that... And I found out what was wrong: It was not gitorious or github, but my client:
I use Archlinux and the client didn't work at all. I tried to read the errors without succes. The solution: I rebootet to my Debian system and everything worked fine!

(Im just playing around with git a little so wait some time until I will upload the new mod version)

For buttons and torches, do the following:
  • Remove wall_mounted = true
  • Add paramtype2 = "wallmounted"
  • Add legacy_wallmounted = true
  • Whenever you check for param2 on one of these nodes: The format has changed.
Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
Code: Select all
Param2 Table (Block Attached To)
0 = y+1 (was 4)
1 = y-1 (was 8)
2 = x+1 (was 1)
3 = x-1 (was 2)
4 = z+1 (was 16)
5 = z-1 (was 32)

For movestone:
  • Replace paramtype = "facedir_simple" with paramtype2 = "facedir".
  • Add l̶e̶g̶a̶c̶y̶_̶f̶a̶c̶e̶d̶i̶r̶ legacy_facedir_simple = true
  • Note: the facedir is now stored in param2 instead of param1.

The mod itself works fine... its just git that doesn't work. I'm too stupid for it. -.-

Can someone tell me how to delete the .minetest folder?

I've deleted it and put the modified changes back in the original folder. Could you make sure I didn't leave anything out?

Edit: Also implemented kahrl's suggestions.

Thanks, Temperest.

And sorry, I messed up on one of the suggestions, the field is called legacy_facedir_simple not legacy_facedir. Sorry for the extra work! ^_^

How did you delete the folder from git???
--> I implemented the facedir pistons thing also, but I don't want to break the repo. This is my new init.lua:

It would be possible to do an elevator with vertical movestones. How ever, that is only in theory. I do not know how other node will react when being pushed by the movestones.

Anyway here's a rough image on how it would look

|
P
-P
| |
| |
|D |
|X |
| P-
P
|

Alright where's what everything is.

| and - are mesecons (of course)
X = the vertical movestone
D = dirt (or some other node where the player will be standing on)
P = piston.

Here's the theory on how it would work.

The vertical movestone would push the player up on the dirt, the player would then have XX time to exit. Then the movestone and dirt would be pushed over and sent back down to reset. (now you can change this to going down the elevator if there would be a sticky movestone) The pistons will move the movestone and dirt so they get into position correctly, to reset back to the original positions. Now the only way to make it 2 way, is sticky movestone.

Now there is currently 2 problems that I know of.

1: Power cannot be generator vertically (such as just stacking mesecon on top of each other. Don't know if this has changed, but I've had this problem)
2: It's good for only a 2xX as you need 4x1 just for one elevator.

Edit: Now if you don't want a 2xX you could always use the transmitter, receiver, and inverter. And take out the pistons. In fact, that would probably be a better way. You would use the receiver to send the elevator up, and the inverter to send it down.

Now if you can make a "remove stone" generator, I can give you another way for a elevator.

Manually - delete the .minetest folder after copying the files in it over to the original folder. The rest was mostly done automatically.

Done! I think it may be time for a new release? Although we should probably document the changes and new features first...
