I don't know whether this is pipeworks or technic related , but the quarry output to tubes are broken now.
It does not output to the tube but to it's new internal storage.

EDIT: Nevermind , I see it randomly outputs after x minutes from the internal storage to the tube.

Marshall: yeah, that's a new feature in the quarry, to reduce the total number of singular items being shoved into the tubes. The same amount of material still gets mined and distributed over time, it just gets "packeted" into small stacks. Helps reduce CPU load on both the server and client.

Meanwhile, build #20150127-1728 is up: updated pipeworks, homedecor, and technic.

Hi VanessaE , this update broke the teleporter tubes.
It doesn't take the channel name anymore. I enter the channel name , set the receive as needed and
the channel name disappears after about a second and reverts to the word 'nil' where channel name is.

EDIT: Nevermind , I found the problem. Now one must not press 'esc' key to close the formspec like before
but the 'enter' key. Pressing 'esc' key removes the channel name.

Well I'd say having to press Enter to commit a change is desirable :-) , however, if Escape actually deletes previous field contents (rather than just aborting a change you were about to make), that's a problem. Which is it?

Meanwhile, build #20150204-1436, updated pipeworks again.

EDIT: build #20150204-2012, switched to Cheapie's /spawn mod.

I think enter to commit the change is better. I just didn't know about it and that's what caught me out. It might be confusing for players as everything else is escape to close a formspec. But one will get used to it quickly I think.

And on another note , the updates to dreambuilder yesterday didn't make any difference to my " server running in slow mo mode" problem. Did the updates and tested. Made some calculations and the game runs about at 30% speed with everything. ( furnaces , quarries , workshops , plantlife , farming ) Everything is at slow mo speed. Still no lag when digging and placing nodes whatsoever though. I can dig and build as fast as my finger allow and with that everything happens instantly. Very weird problem this.

Re: [Game] Dreambuilder [20150205-0035]

by VanessaE » Thu Feb 05, 2015 05:41

That is so weird, but if it's not consuming a ton of CPU and not showing any lag, then it doesn't sound like it's a fundamental game issue but something else... Come to think of it, Redcrab had a problem similar to this on his servers once, a couple years ago, running then vanilla minetest_game and a few common mods (nothing of mine). ABMs would just inexplicably stop executing, or start being calls with much longer intervals than normal, but the server would remain perfectly responsive and players could dig/build and chat normally. Not sure what caused or solved that.

I just don't have a clue as to what is going on. At this point I would suggest making a copy of your live world for "offline" testing, reproduce the problem there, and then start deleting components from the game until you find the one mod that's the culprit.

Meanwhile, build #20150205-0035 is up - updated homedecor, worldedit, spawn, and infrastructure. Also pulled for mesecons but nothing new that's kept in Dreambuilder.

Yeah , if I just knew where to start looking hey. Today I am testing on different hardware. Just to make sure the
problem is not there. ( even though cpu and ram usage did show very low ). I already have tested different OS as well and that didn't help either. Like I always say , fixing a problem is fine , finding the problem is a different story :P

Heh, right. The axiom of bughunting I guess. I hope you can find the source of the issue.

Hi VanessaE , the teleport tubes is broken again , and this time I couldn't figure out what is wrong.
The on/off switch at receive doesn't work at all. And it doesn't take the network name specified. ( tried by pressing enter and by pressing escape ). In both instances the teleport tube stays "unconfigured" mode.

I did update to latest dreambuilder from git

Just something interesting that I picked up the last two days. My game speed went up from about 30% to roughly 80% now. I did yesterday's dreambuilder update and it was since then. That's the only change I made ( apart from normal gameplay of building stuff and mining of course ) and it's still the same world on the same hardware.

I don't know what improved it , but very happy it did :)

For the carbone_mobs mod specifically you can simply add these to your minetest.conf:

Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
Code: Select all
spawn_friendly_mobs = false
spawn_hostile_mobs = false

More generally, you can disable any mod by simply moving or deleting it from the mods directory. You may end up causing weirdness though if the mod/s you disable are actually needed by other mods.

Yeah and end up with a ton of unknown nodes :( *sigh*
