FOSS gamedev and creative worlds

ok so i downloaded a map, i put it in the worlds file, but now what? i need to know how to actually be able to make it a world and play it. please help!

AFAIK it should be ready to play if you don't have illegal characters in the name of the map folder.
Don't know if you have to install some mods first, this should be mentioned in the topic where you got the map.

i downloaded the map:

my old singleplayer map

when i downloaded it i put it in the worlds file. but when it downloaded, it only downloaded a map.sqlite file so i put that in the worlds file. I then put it in a folder and started minetest. when i went to the singleplayer tab it wasnt there ?

Ok, so there's a lot missing.

If you have some cool stuff in your old map file and you think it's worth the effort, you can do the following:

1. Start Minetest and create a new map.
2. Put the file map.sqlite in the folder of the just created map.
3. Play the map and start searching for whatever you built in the old map.

You'll probably start far away from the spot where you were when you played the old map for the last time.
Maybe you'll find yourself underground, suffocating.
The Inventory will be empty.
You'll (probably) have strange transitions when new terrain gets generated.
But if you're patient enough, you'll find your buildings from the old map.

You should contact Jeija. The problem is that only having the map.sqlite isn't enough.
