World in a Jar Survival Map

This is... the World In A Jar survival map!
It is similar to skyblock, just more extended and less boring. It is set up for SINGLEPLAYER ONLY!
You start off in the spawn jar. However, there is also a desert jar, a winter jar, a water jar and a cloud house.

Please do suggest new jars.

Storyline:
You start to wake up, feeling groggy, and with a terrible headache. The last thing you remember was... was... ah yes, you were mining, and fell down a pothole. You hit your head, and blacked out. But now you are here... where is here? You stand up, and see you are in a huge glass jar. You stagger to the edge and see you are in the middle of the sky. You notice other, similar jars, each with a different biome. You spot a desert jar, a snowy forest jar, and a watery ocean jar.
But what is that? In the distance you can just about make out a house.
But first, time to explore the jars...

There is no mainland anywhere, you are stuck in the middle of now-where.

There is a lava sheet to stop you from falling forever.

Rules:
  • Do Not Cheat (fly, giveme etc)
  • No Creative Mode
  • You may give yourself one sapling assuming the tree doesn't drop one...

Challenges:
  • Make a papyrus farm
  • Make a wheat farm
  • Make a tree farm
  • Make a cactus farm
  • Make a cobble generator
  • Make roads to each of the jars and the house
  • Craft 50 torches
  • Make a furnace
  • Make a chest

It's a cool game but ore seems to be extremely limited. :)

Oh well, I can always tell it to use my personal xtras mod to give me lumps when digging stone. :)

Not right now anyway, I'm still going to reach one of the other "jars". :)

I saw you suggest massive mountains in Minetest, once i update to 0.4.8 stable the lua voxel manipulator will enable structures of unlimited size, generating at perhaps 4 seconds per chunk maximum. I will be creating megastructures and super mountains certainly.
In the meantime have you climbed a 2km mount meru? or a 1km wall in slabrealm mod?

There are ores, you know. Some quite nice ores (nyan cat, diamonds, mese)

Yes, but there is not a lot and if you use them for tools, when the tools break they are gone. So for the most part you are stuck using stone tools the only renewable resource.

That's why you must conserve your resources :p
Nice idea.

I can't take credit for the idea. I saw a game mode that mentioned it did this and while I didn't download or look at it I liked it enough to create a mod that redefined the basic stone and dirt and such. This way I can add it to anything I want and not be limited just to downloading and playing that game mode. :)

Jar Idea: Add Jars that spawn with stone and there own individual ores.
Make them spaced out in a way like this:

0m Out: Spawn Jars > 50m Out:Jars of stone and dirt > 75m Out:Jars of Iron > 100m Out: Copper Jars > 200m Out: Jars of DIAMONDS and Gold > 450m Out:Jars of Mese and other Ores
> Finally 750-1000m Out: Nyancats

This is a sort of Mining alternative but side ways to adjust to the different enviroment.

Nice idea! Of course, I would place some dirt and stuff in the spawn jar, otherwise you couldn't make a stone generator. Also, I am making the jars with worldedit and manually, they don't 'spawn' naturally. I could copy-and-paste jars though quite easily.

That's because Dan left once or twice and may have deleted the the files from his dropbox account. I have a copy of this from August 19th, 2013. I will upload it here for you.
